This is the location of the filter on the S-type. I'm sure it's not much different on the X. Once you remove the bolt on the windshield wipers, just pull on the wipers and they should come right off. If not, hit it sideways snugly with a hammer(preferably rubber just in case you hit the windshield) and pull it again. Then just remove the clips for the plastic piece that covers the rear area of the engine bay and you should see it.

I only know how to do it on the S. And I have pics of the S! I have no idea where or how to do it on the X. I figured it would be the same thing.

lol, All good.....
On the x, you have to remove the cowl under the wipers....to remove the wipers, position them in the upright mode, pull clip on bottom or base at the arm and the wiper assy will come off...

After that, remove the plastic assy to get to filter...be sure to insert new filter correctly because if you don't, when it rains, water will enter cabin...

I just changed mine without removing the wiper arms - my cowl grille is glued at the windshield anyways, and I didn't want to disturb that seal.(Are they all like that?) All it cost me was the filter ($26 from Ebay - how'd I do?) and one knuckle.
BTW, Biggie's pic shows the Ford# on his S-type filter that crossed to a Motorcraft FP25. Probably cheaper from the Ford dealer ($29 here) than Jag. My X-type filter had a Ford # also, but I couldn't cross it to a service # I can get.

Taurus is different - S-type uses the one for a Lincoln LS, but the X-type is unique.
