Seems like my windows aren't rolling up with a single pull of the button. They go down like they should, but not up anymore. Any ideas?

Did you by chance disconnect the battery recently? When I changed my battery neither worked for me...

yeah the battery thing sounds rite, when u disconnect the battery, it takes a while for the windows to get back to working as they should, i think it mite be a safety turn off thihng for the windows that jag have.

Not sure I just know that happened to me and I thought I'd have to go and get the car reset at the dealer or something but like the next day or two it was working just fine...good luck!

Wow, you guys have automatic windows at all 4 corners that go down AND up? The only automatic for me is the Driver window, and it only goes down!

Yeah all 4 windows front and back go up and down auto and the sunroof as well! What year is your s-type??? I couldn't imagine them not putting them in the s as well as the x if they have the stuff to do it???

I have an 01 and the sunroof is automatic open too, but not close!

Tried any 02's and newer? Or ask the dealer they may be able to assist with that??? My sunroof is also auto open/close plus the vent position for the sunroof is auto too...

Started working today. I did drain the battery while working on the stereo and had to charge it. Glad it is working again...it had me worried.

You drained the battery than had to recharge it and thats when you noticed the windows wouldn't go up with the switch correct! I figured you did something to the battery! Diagnosis solved! Who needs racer!

Did you ever fix your problem? It is really simple actually.

Make sure the windows are rolled up completely, release the switch and hold the "window up" buttons for each window for 5 seconds each. They will reset and the Auto Up will work once again.

I had the same thing happen after the bat. was disconnected.

I swear the second I read this^^^ I went and tried it...:(:( Doesn't work for my car!

Strange, It's worked twice for me now. You have to hold it long enough to hear a click noise.

Well, I called the dealer and they told me that my car doesn't come with Auto Up/Down feature on all windows.

As long as all the powerxp ,vista ....windows (lol) works as it should no problem ;)

did they say if there were any year of s's that have them, or didn't you ask?

I know the 03's have em, cos i had it on the STR, but that may jus be for the R's.

Actually, the 03's and up got many revisions and are much better cars than the 02-and down!

Hey o4x that car really got as bad of mpg as you say? Would you buy another one? After biggie's been commenting on them I want one....never really been a fan of the s-type but man I've always thought the R was way out of my price range...I've found some for under 30k that have less than 50k miles and all had the 100k mile jag warranty. Soon as I get my escape paid off well be looking for an 04-05 once I get it paid off! I still can't believe that car goes for so little when its only 3-4 years old! Hey 04x what did you think about everything about the car...i.e. acceleration, cornering, braking etc...?

I drove one for 3 days, before I got my S, and it was lovely! My mechanic has one and he gave it to me as a loaner while he worked on my Nissan! It accelerates like a beast and the V8 sounds monstruous with the borla! The Braking is awesome too as the Brembos rip the pavement in front of the tire! Handling could be better though! A lot of body roll during quick turns!

I was going to ask you how bad compared to an x but you have an s! Danget! What do you think 04x how does the handling compare to our x's? Hey biggie the straight line acceleration was nice though right?

I have driven the X, and body roll seems like a Jag thing, not an X thing! It's very hard to compare the X with the STR, because the STR's suspension is so much stiffer, and the performance is no comparison! The straight line acceleration was awesome! I was taking SRT-4's and WRX's like it was nothing!!!

the cornering compared to the x was better, but if you put too much power behind it, you lose traction pretty easy. Id say you could take a turn approx. 15-20 mph faster on the R. I believe it had the electric suspension so it ajusted when you put more strain on it, dont quote me on that thogh, it just felt that way. Quite honestly, every turn i took, i could smell rubber, but it didnt feel like it was losing traction. If i could afford to keep one of those, i wud definately get another one. Insurance was another thing that was quite expensive for me, the mpg wasnt that bad, but it adds up when u drive in traffic for 2 hours to work, and 2 hours back

Oh, the straight line acceleration is great! I once let my brother drive the S-type R, andi was in the X. We were at a stop light, and then it we took off, well i did, he took it slow, gradually caught up to me in like a second (while i was still pushing the x as much as it wud go) and then all of a sudden i hear the damn supercharger and he was gone. The sound of the supercharger was music to my ears. Also while going 150, the STR feels like ure goin 70, smooth as hell and it still has a lot more to give

I'll Vouch for that 100%. The STR feels so smooth at high speeds. I took it to 145(don't tell my mechanic), and it felt super stable! The supercharger was a beaut to listen to!

OMG-stiffer suspension than the x-yours is a sport or no? You have the 18's as well, is yours lowered any or stiffened at all? (sorry I just can't remember there are so many black ones on here with 18's now!)

im under 25, i pay 600 for 6 months for the X, was around 900 for the R. My car is lowered, but the R is still stiffer, and handles a lot better

I don't hate black x's with rims just commenting that you guys kind of blend in within my mind because we all bs so much...hard to keep track of yall! That wasn't too bad than because the r is supercharged and is worth more than the x plus its rwd not awd. $150 a month doesn't seem too bad, I pay just under 100 a month for the x and 100 for my escape. Thats awesome that they handle better than the x because I've been pretty impressed with it thus far.

Paid the same amount last year too when i was only 21??? Paid even less when I had a full coverage car a plpd car and my crotch rocket with full coverage plus renter's insurance!

Well, I have 2 cars, both full coverage, and my wife has had a license for less than 6 months! I also have 3 points on my license from a ticket like 2 years ago that I didn't go to traffic school for! No renters insurance, but no deductibles and I get $40/day for a car rental should something happen!

The thing I hate is that we all pay for insurance here right...well when we had hurricane katrina in the south our government ended up paying money to the insurance companies to pay for houses and what not that were damaged...what I don't get is thats why we pay our insurance companies all of this money...shouldn't they be saving it for disasters and for when peoples houses do get burned to the ground? Well, if they save it, then they don't pay their employees nor any claims! Insurance companies make their money from those that don't make claims! When an entire city goes bubbly bubbly, the insurance companies can't pay off!

Insurance is based on risk factors in a sense .Let's say you are rigger and you have ships and normally you make some insurance for them like many other ship owners howeverto the scenarioeveryone used the same insurance company .And guess what ? Many ships sunk in the sea and the same insurance company would be in hot water in how to pay such a huge amount of money ?
Allthe related insurancemoneys collect in a pool ,of course not a swimming pool (lol) insurance pool .In any cases/scenarios like that the money that's collected in the pool goes to insurance company to make a safe and sound payment over shipping companies .

Yeah but what I'm saying is theres a heck of alot more money going into these insurance companies and less coming out. Its the same way with warranties and what not with consumer products you get. You buy a tv at best buy or circuit city when 2 of 3 people either forget that their product is covered they've just made there money. They also bank on you losing your receipt. Just because a huge catastrophy happens the insurance companies need to put the money away for when something does happen...They justify their prices by the probability of something happening so they make money they arn't in the market to lost money but to make money so when your not over 25 they charge you more than an 18 year old...but they are making more money off the 18 year old and charge accordingly just like the people living in Florida they charge more and have specific insurance for things and that should allow for them to pay out...local businesses aren't open to chop their own heads off...nor are huge insurance companies...but they don't have to worry because our tax money goes to help out the insurance companies that we are already paying into!

Do you have anything that backs up your claims that the gov't helps out insurance companies. I knew nothing of this, but I'd make sure to be furious and discuss this over with my parents over a cup of coffee. It's not like I can do much more. Gov't PWNS all!

Yeah they said it on the news all over when katrina hit that the insurance companies couldnt' afford it...the govt had to step in. That was 2 years ago it'd be hard to find a link!

My problem with it biggie is thats what we paid the insurance companies for was for when things do happen our stuffs covered! When a phone is lost even if they do report it the phone can't text message...one of the guys I work with bought one on ebay and when he got it he couldn't figure out why he couldn't send a pic in a text message. He called sprint up and they said the reason was because the phone was lost or stolen and he told them i bought it off ebay...they activated the ability to send the pics and that was it...you find a phone don't think they can do anything to ya...how do they prove anything? Just because you find something doesn't mean you are obligated to give it back..you should but???? I have no problem telling sprint the phone is gone because they are scam artists! They want 500 dollars for the i880 i'm buying WTF! There is no reason for there phone to be so expensive...the worst part is the fact that they don't care how much the phones are once your in contract. Not to mention they wouldn't even help me out with my phone right now...I called back after initially calling and letting them know that my phone would drop a call at least once a day...i dropped a call while in the middle of explaining my situation to the ladies monday or tuesday when I called! The only thing they said is well we tried to reset the phone over the line and it didn't work you need a new phone! Thats it they don't even back up there product which I have a problem with!

Just keep in mind man that you almost have to check every year at least for a new insurance company...at first I had progressive than I went to aaa and they eventually tried raping me...I eventually ended up with state farm...alot of that had to do with aaa saying they could insure my bike, so I went with them and than 3 months later I tried to insure my bike and the lady was like you never told me it was a crotchrocket! I was livid especially because that was a friday afternoon and I couldnt' get ahold of anyone else to insure it! The funny part is that she was like I've been doing this for 15 years and I know motorcycles and the funny part of that was that the bike is a honda 900RR! If you know motorcycles you know that honda doesn't put a RR tag on the end of a shadow or goldwing or cr125! You know that the RR badge is only on rockets! Stupid biiiiiitch! That was when I ended up getting state farm after my 6 months I pre paid for was over!

My parents have aig auto insurance...I tried going to them and they wanted like 5,000 per 6 months...I told the guy that I could pay my jag off in a year at that rate! For my parents they were cheap as could be and I don't have anything on my driving record and my dad has 2 different tickets from 2 different vacations in the last 2-3 years! Insurance companies suck....rape you when your young and can't afford insurance than when you can afford to pay insurance its cheap than you get old and can't pay for the insurance..again!

Checkind around when your insurance is due for renewal is a MUST. I do it every year for sure.
When I first started insuring our vehicles a few years back, I got some amazing savings and have done every year since by checking around.
The best I got on my Saab last year was I think around £565........This year the same company wanted £651..............even though I had no accidents claims or convictions and had gained another years no claims bonus.
I shopped around and paid £444 in the end:)

Yeah I hear you there I had to tell biggie that because we are young...we don't really know but I learned pretty quick because I've had so many cars and that bike...I couldnt' afford to get ripped I was working on a small budget, and I wanted alot of different things like a bike...the bike was old but I still had to have full coverage on it because when I crash its another 5k i'd get vs. nothing!

BTW biggie when I get my stuff off the 10 dvds from my back up discs i'll post some good pics of the bike...my computer I have now doesn't have any...
