Heck, the tranny can't handle the wimpy N/A as it is. They should offer a built tranny as part of the SC package

if that is the same deal as the one that was used on the X that went to barrett jackson the supercharger will only work on manual X's due to room under the hood.

Man you gotta really love ur X or any other car for that matter and intend to hold onto it for a long time to spend £5300 on supercharger. Thats before you spend on all those other little bits n pieces you want / need.
Of course you'll never get that back[&:]

Evrything on that site seems super overpriced, so I wouldnt buy any of there really pricy stuff. I mean 120 pounds for a license plate frame. 4000 dollars for some rims. COMEON

Such as........

Can you see the salesman pitching this thing on the sales floor to a prospective buyer?

"Would you like a supercharger for your X-type?"

"HECK YEAH I WOULD"

"Would you like the car to go further than 300 meters?"

"HUH?"

"step over to our transmission sales specialist"

i dont think anyone (well most people) will buy anything from there, but it gives us hope of some other company gettin ideas from them and start making similar products at a reasonable price

Will all of their products work on American cars, because this is a british place, and there may be some differences between the two countries models.

They are selling a K &N air intake thing for 161 pounds, which is over 300 dollars right, I'm sure Icould go direct to K & N and get that for less...but I never knew K & N made air intakes for Jags. But I would love to buy that product...just can't afford it and that's without shipping. Thats probably an extra 560 bucks, and then I'd get it and find out it only fits in britishcars.

Contrary to popular opinion you cannot simply bolt on a supercharger and expect the car to last. Besides the fact that someone already pointed out that the tranny has thestrength of a toothpick. If you plan on supercharging you are going to have to rip your motor apart. Rebuild the internalswith forged ones, replace all gaskets etc. Then your going to have to worry about your ecm andpcm, next comes the tranny, then comes hood clearance issues, then the awd system will it be able to take all the power your generating or will it just blow bolts out your rear end? I love to mod carsdont get me wrong but unfortunately i think thex-type aside from a catback exhaust andan intake there isnt too much you cando to it without compromising its driveability and reliability even more so. However, i wish you luck in whateverroute youchoose.

I came into this thread a little late, but I'm going to chime in anyway....

5287 pounds = $10,764 US dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy Hell man! You can take your existing motor...have it bored, ported and polished....reflash the ECU..and get close to the same gain with an all motor tune for less than that.

I've installed an 8bl supercharger kit, with an ECU piggyback....blew a piston, rebuilt the motor with JE forged racing pistons...Walboro fuel pump, RC 330cc injectors, full lenght racing headers...and all under $10k. If I had $10k to spend...I'd be looking for a performance shop with a good track record...not shipping it off to some company who sells the blower and some parts.

My 2 cents....it's your car and checkbook.

Plus for 10K, if you can sell that 04 X type for like 20 thousand, then you could just buy a used S type R.

Also, to add on to peewee's point, even if you could make evreything on the car suprecharger capable, it is just a fact that a car with a supercharger will have a shorter life then if it didn't have a supercharger, cuz it;s just more work on the engine.

Yeah we had a whole post the last time he posted that magazine! Those rims are gawdy! Anyone that wants another 40% hp over our stock 227 go buy an s-type R...why even buy an x if you want more power? I love my x the way she sits...although a new exhaust, rims and an intake does sound quite enticing to me...

just my few cents!

Wow! The whole site is a rip off!

Although getting an intake & exhaust does sound appealing to me. Anyone have or know anyone who has an intake installed on their X?
