it possible to wire into the existing speaker system on an 'S' type so that I can run a 'stand alone' dvd player (sound) through the radio speakers.

Check on e-bay for the interface that goes between the receiver and the cd changer. I found one the other day for about $50 bucks. I didn't buy it, but it did tell me that the adapter's do exist. Good Luck!

Yes you can, but it's best to get the interface so you can have volume control.....and you won't have to boooger up any wires..
