cabin air filter

How the heck do you change the cabin air filter? Anyone ever done this? It looks like you have to pull the windshield wiper arms but the're being stubborn. I'm getting rain water in thru the cabin air filter because the housing is cracked but I can't get to it. And I just found out I might have serious transmission problems. Don't ever buy a car from a guy who doesn't speak english, I think I just got screwed.
I had my mechanic change it for me. He said he had to pry my wiper arms off.
What happened to your transmission??
I had the same limp mode problem and it turned out to be the Mass Air flow sensor.

To change the filter you do not need to remove the wipers.
UnClip all the clips on the black plastic along the firewall... and you can lift the cover up enough to get the filter out. I have done this myself. It was quite easy.
worst case is you need a third hand..

there is some recommendation in the owners manual. But to be fair.. the filter could be clogged the next day if you drive throught a dust storm with the fan on high. You need to apply some basic intelligence and kinda pay attention to the air flow.. When it is reduced, change it. I know it is hard to notice the difference since it is gradual, usually super hot or cold days are what prompt you to do it.
good luck.
good luck.
Thanks Bojangles.
That makes sense. The only reason I changed mine was due to the bad smell whenever I turned on my A/C. it smelled like urine. But when I looked at the old filter it was clogged and really dirty. Now I don't have that smell whenever I use my A/C.
