Hi guys,
My older brother just couldn't stand having his little brother having a better car then him so he went and got a 04 x-type 3.0 AWD. Then a few weeks later he got a check engine light. I scaned it with my Auto Ingenuity scanner. I got the following errors.
P0171 System Too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2)
If you download the .zip file and open the included .xml files in Internet Exploder, you can view the freeze frame data and the Mode 6 data.
We changed the air, fuel filter. I also cleaned the MAF sensor.
Any ideas?

Both of them wont fail together however a vacuum leak will cause the codes
Easiest one to check which takes seconds once you remove the plastic tray ontop of your engine is the crankcase breather pipe running from the crankcase to the manifold (beside your airbox) .
Its common for the pipe to split underneath allowing unmetered air into the system causing the check light and the car to run lean.
Jaguar brought out a much sturdier pipe and my dealer sells loads. They are around GB£5
Heres the location of the pipe

Other causes could be the IMT O ring seals near the throttle body???

2000, check the IMT rings also. They are on the passenger side of the car, pointing towards they passenger front tire, on the side of the intake. They will be 4" round black plastic pieces there. The starter fluid trick always works if in doubt. You should also check the vacuum line running from the intake to the master brake cylinder. This can crack and cause what you are seeing too.
if you need more help, just hollar.

The O rings in question are on these (IMT) control valves....Remove the two bolts holding them on along with the electrical connectors and you will see the o rings..the bottom one will not come out all the way, but you'll still be able to stretch the O ring to get it on/off.

Your friendly Jaguar dealer will know exactly what you need. They're cheap...around $3 US each (for the X-type anyway). I believe the Jag dealer is the only place you can get them.

Youre welcome!
PS Check the pipe while youre doing the IMT o rings....it deteriorates from oil lying in the pipe and you dont hear it leaking!
