I am 95% done changing my rear pads but..the service manual states

Make sure the piston location mark is in the correct position so that the locator pin on the brake pad backing plate locates correctly into the piston???

I read a mondeo forum and was told that on the rear right you should align the long cut in the piston face with the caliper nib and on the left side the short cut in the piston face lines up. This is easy enough but why?

Is the xtype the same..??? guidance please!!!!!!

I think those tabs need to be aligned with the barake pad. The pad should have some notches in them and the pistion tabs align with that.......
