Will 20inch wheels fit.
I know of 19in wheels fitting, not sure of 20's.

Does anyone have pics of their X Types with aftermarket wheels? If so please post up.
Photo Gallery isnt woring for me nor is the search function.

I thing they had to roll the fender to get the 20's to fit.....or get the adjustable coil overs so that you can raise the rear and front by at least 1 inch. Other than that, you can forget about having passengers...your wheels will rub...all the time especially where the road has imperfections.... 18's will fit just fine, unless you remove the coils then forget about it....

As for my stereo, i wanted to keep the steering wheel controls, but the kit (for now) doesn't have it...Jensen is working on something.....maybe in the next few months i'll have someting that will interface with radio and wheel......

As for now haven't had much time to finish it, hoping by next weekend to have it all done....

alright
so you are saying 18"s with a drop isnt possible??
i saw a sport type at the dealership here
they have the stiffer springs, not sure if it lowers it, but the 17"s they had still had plenty of gap
i am hoping i can get 18"s on there with a drop
i will go wheels first and then see how much room is left

shoot me some pics though when you get a chance so i can see yours

No, I think i said, 18's with NO SPRINGS is not possible. Same with 20's.
I have the stock 17's with the Arden coil overs lowered 1.5 inchs and they work fine. I can see 18's fitting....but putting items in the trunk or 4 people in car is asking for trouble. If it's just you and a girl, 18's and the lowered Arden suspension (designed for the Jag) should be ok.

If you look at the Bonspeed jaguar, it has fatter rear tires with the lowered springs....but look closley and you will see they rolled the rear quaters to make them fit.

You can make anything work....you'll just need lots of $$$$ or a good friend in the bodyshop business....

How much of a drop was the Arden springs and where and how much did you pay for them?
I am gonna do the wheels first and see how it sits and rides with and without people in the car.
Fender work is no prob hehehee. I put a 17X11.5 in the back of the Supra with 315/35/17...with some work.

H&R advertise 1.4 in front and 1.5 front and back or it might be 1.3 and 1.4 for the drops.

If you have the pics hosted somewhere you should just be able to put the image tags around it.

Arden Springs were 250 (front and rear) I just did the rear, dropped it a bit more than 1.5 inches. I took measurements prior to doing it and it's more like a 2 inch drop for the rear. I decided not to do the front....so if you want to buy the front Arden springs from me, let me know. Right now I have about 1 inch clearance in the rear from tire to fender. Thinking of installing fatter tires to give it a bit more aggressive look. Should be no problems if I stick with the 17's

Pics are on my laptop, I’ll take more once I wash it and wax....

BTW, you know anybody that makes custom rims?

I dont know of anyone on a personal level.
The wheels on the Supra were somewhat custom. They are the only ones that could fit a wheel that wide on the rear and front and still clear calipers, and stay with the wheel wells.
They also made a 16in drag set up that I ran on that car also. That was alot hard using 16"s to fit the front calipers.
www.ccwheel.com (http://www.ccwheel.com)

he has some other styles now but he caters to higher end cars and track cars usually
FIKSE has some stuff on their site
you can print it out and take measurements and they can possibly make you some wheels

there is a local shop here that can get Bogart centers and weld the barrel and center together but they couldnt do anything with my Supra back then to accomdate the brakes and all

19's wont fit without modification? Even with lower profile tires?

racerx82

I suppose you may get 19's with stock suspension......and thats with the low profile tires.....You may get rubbing when corning and pot holes...

lower your suspension and the tallest low profile tire you can get to work safely is 18....notice i say safely.......ask me how i know.. lol

how low are we talking? The 17" konigs on my car now have a 35 series profile. How low are we talking i'd want to go with on an 18" or 19"? I wish I had the stock aguilla's on mine but these konigs are growing on me. What size rim offset and all do I need. I've heard that some gms have a similar bolt pattern and offset. If this is true my buddy bought a set of 18x9's saleen wheels for his century. What width in inches will allow an 18" rim to fit on these x-types. Whats the max. Wondering if I could go with a 18x9 and 18x10 in the back! Just wondering though...

i run 225/40/18 with no changes to the suspension and no problems.

i still need to snap a new picture. the wheels in tis are clean, but the tires had a bit of residue from being mounted, nor does this show the painted cilver calipers.

I read your link to that a while ago...Didn't it say something about the alteration to the car to fit them? That is a sweet car though. My tires are series 45 not 35 like I originally stated. Does anyone know what offset the rims need to fit?

racerx82
10-10-2006, 07:38 PM
offset is like 45 i think...45-48 some way off not normal number.......that's why only a certain few rims will fit correctly.

I am seriously looking at the mille miglia which only come in 19" from tirerack.com The site only shows rims that fit from my understanding (possibly just the offset numbers and that not necessarily them actually fitting.) The cost per rim are 189 which is a pretty good deal and they looook very nice. They look like something like Jag would put on the car stock too so I think they'd look nice. I am wondering that if I had the 225 35zr19 whether they would fit or not without bottoming out? I am going to go to belle tire and see what they say.

Yes the bodywork had to be modified to fit the 20" wheels in the link

original offset is 52,5 (!), that is the problem.

Went to belle tire near novi, mi and his book of what comes stock and what will fit are with 225 35 19. He said I could go with 245 width possibly which I figure might help for curb rash but I don't know. The rims with the tires are about $1600. Rims are about 7-- and the tires were over 8--!!! The size 19 tire is very hard to find and are pretty steep. I'll see what happens when I can afford some rims. I wasn't looking to spend more money on tires than rims-LOL!
