Default Now thats an oil leak

Looks like a high pressure engine oil line or Oring got screwed up and shot oil out every where, thank god it didn't happen to me on the freeway going 100mph this morning.

Its on the driver rear corner of the engine bay.

If a car cant handle 100mph I cant sell it =).

It looks like motor oil but the funny thing is the oil level is still ok. There are 2 hoses that cross over the top of the trans and then are pressed in to metal lines that wrap around the back of the driver side cyl head that I think mite be the problem unless those are ps lines. If I cant see the leak with my mirror I'm thinking about maybe pulling a fuse so the engine wont start and turn it over till I see where the leak is coming from. Is there a better way to keep this motor from starting besides pulling a IGN fuse?

Pull fuel pump relay. The two metal lines sound like the trans cooler lines. If oil level is ok, may be trans fluid. Those lines do leak and they do suck to replace.

it won't have a redish tint.. 98-2003 xj trani fluid has a Light gold colour .. and when old turns dark dark gold/brown and yes they are not fun to change.

It is the trans line, its the one that runs across the top of the trans. Itlooks like some one messed with it before and routed the hose in front of a bracket that holds some electrical connections and mite of caused the problem. It doesn't look to hard to change, I'm going to pull it off tomorrow. I saw a plug in the side of the trans, I'm assuming that's where I refill the trans and show the correct level of fluid? Should I bother replacing the filter since I have to refill it?

You dont have to drain trans to do the line. I wouldnt mess with the filter. Just do the line. Good luck. You got 2 techs telling you it sucks to do.......it sucks to do.....lol

I don't think much. It is a cooler hose not from a pump.

It was easy getting the linedisconnected but pulling it out of the engine bay was a pain. Forget installing it back in the stock location I'm going to get a custom 200psi hose made and run it an easier way.

Here is a picture of the hose I made for $30 at car quest. I'm not sure how much the factory hose is but I'm sure I saved some money. I cut the bend out of the end that fits in the radiator so I wouldn't have to worry about twisting the hose ends to make the ends work.

Nice. Factory should have done it that way from start. Be sure to zip tie it up so it doesnt rub anywhere. Reason it broke to begin with. Dont want a repeat repair eh.

You saw how much of a pain in the butt it was to get that hose out....now picture us trying to feed that thing back in there without bending it. I like your way much better.

I don't know how you guys canget that linethat out with out having to unbolt the compressor or remove the motor mount besides going insane. Also the dealer quoted me $60per liter for that trans fluid, is there a cheaper alternative?

Not really unless Ken or Genius can get it. ZF picky about their fluids.
