racerx82 06-06-2005, 07:05 PM Just installed the new mesh stainless steal grill on my 05 Jag and wow, what a differance it makes! Got some tips if you are installing it yourself....was a little tricky but got it done in 45 minutes......
Well worth the 89 bucks!

racerx82 06-07-2007, 10:43 PM http://www.jaguarxp.com/jagxp/Jaguar%20X-Type/exterior/Lower%20mesh%20grill2.htm
Try them...
04XTYPE 06-07-2007, 10:44 PM You can get the lower one a jaguarxp.com, and arden.de have it, also if you type jaguar lower mesh grill in a search engine there shud be a few sites with em. Imstallation is a little hard as you have to take out the lower bar which i had to cut as i wanted to keep the part that held the foglight wires in place. (it took me about 4 hours to do, but that was because i didnt really know what i was doing, and didnt have the rite tools. The grill comes with instructions, which are pretty simple enough, just that i didnt read them. One the lower bar is out, the mesh is a simple install. good luck
cadillac 06-08-2007, 05:05 PM Good job ,lower grill is even nicer ;)
SonicRiot 06-09-2007, 04:46 PM Both upper and lower grills can be had from Jag. They are both available in stainless (doesn't rust... not some cheap chrome that will chip off) or black. The lower grill is the "R" grill, which seems funny to me as there isn't a X-Type R...
The Arden piece has a black rubber strip around the lower grill. I'm not a fan of it. Plus, it's a lot more expensive.
The upper grill comes with a chrome surround over the parts counter. I think I paid $200 for it, but I removed the surround and replaced it with my color-coded Sport surround. The lower piece was about $350. But I think it looks pretty good. Plus, it's more protection for your radiator, condensor, and trans cooler. I picked up a rock through my stock lower grill and ended up with a $1000 bill to replace the slplit radiator. Jag wouldn't pay and the car was stranded 100 miles from home.[:@] After the replairs, the service manager reccomended the "R" grill. Of course I had to buy the uppe rone to match!
04XTYPE 06-09-2007, 07:21 PM The lower grill that has the blcak surround is not the arden one, it sit the one that jaguarxp have. The arden one has the chrome or stianless surround

Nice Job racer......looks good mate
Love the look of the upper mesh grill and of course if you're doing that you need to do the lower to match.
Me personally, it'd have to be the black mesh.....soooo sexy.
Its sumthin I need to get around to doing, thats if I keep the X for much longer.
Jim
04XTYPE 06-09-2007, 08:10 PM Com'mon Jim, u cant seriously be thinking about gettin rid of the X. Remember when Racer was thinking that a little time ago, look how happy he is now that he kept it;)
JimC64 06-09-2007, 08:34 PM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/T15ESSJAG5.jpg
Hey 04..............sorta considering it mate[&:]
Dunno, we'll see.......she's doin on about an Audi A4 convertible or a Saab 93 convertible for the summer............although the way I feel now.........it'll be neither.
she'll either be lucky and keep the X or it'll be a 10 year old piece of s**t as she doesn't look after it anyway.........lol
Jim
cadillac 06-10-2007, 05:52 AM I think you wouldn't feel comfy w/o X Type .Don't let yourself deprive the X Type lol .You can also consider adding some chrome stuffs on your car lol
racerx82 06-10-2007, 09:25 AM Lol,
I got all the stainless steel stuff too!

JimC64 06-10-2007, 06:24 PM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/T15ESSJAG5.jpg
What?.....you mean like a chrome car.........lol
Havin said that, I think it was Buck, posted a pic of an X totally in polished aluminuim I think it was....SHINEEEEEE
Only for display purposes though
Jim C
SonicRiot 06-11-2007, 09:36 PM It was a XJ. They polished the sheetmetal to show off its fresh aluminum body. I still want to know how they polished the plastic bumpers...?!?
See here: http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1266
04XTYPE 06-11-2007, 11:04 PM Good point sonic, they failed to mention that the whole car wasnt just a regualr XJ with polished sheetmetal. Im sure the bumpers were remade out of sheetmetal, or they just painted them and made em look like it was polished sheet metal
cadillac 06-12-2007, 03:23 AM Superb looking car but I would prefer polished bumpers instead lol
JimC64 06-12-2007, 05:40 AM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/moving1.gif
it was SHINYYYYYYY!!!!!
wasn't there some issue about it not being road legal as it may blind oncoming drivers or something?
Jim C
04XTYPE 06-13-2007, 06:47 PM Yeah, the reflective mirror finish was a distraction so it was considered illegal. Although i have seen an SL on the street once in LA that was the polished sheet metal

04XTYPE 06-20-2007, 01:00 AM No wife FTW! i can do what i please. Well for now anyways ;)
bigdreams05 06-20-2007, 10:00 AM Doing what you please is not as fun until you have someone to honestly share it with. I'll be honest, I'm not able to just get up and go as I please and not have to worry about letting anyone know, but usually, if I want to get up and go, I have some one to get up and go with me! She's great company too! I'll have to say that getting married was probably the best decision I've ever made!

Classic Jimbo...Classic! Another "tear to the glass eye" type of quote! Now I never thought I'd get married so quick, but I enjoy being able to spend as much time with the lady as possible. We both work the same schedule and therefore go to school together. During the week we see each other about 30 mins in the morning(as we get ready for work) and 30 mins at night(as we get ready for....ahem). Now Saturday is generally reserved for the Jag and the Nissan, but during the water drought, I can't even wash my car. Did get to put the new Pioneer Navi in this weekend though!:D I guess it's just nice to have someone to cuddle you with love at night and to look after for you when you're not doing so well. Wishy Washy...yes, but am I happy...OH YEAH!
JimC64 06-21-2007, 05:10 PM http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r38/jaycam0802/T15ESSJAG5.jpg
Cool Biggie......it sounds all good mate. lucky bugger!
Let the good times roll, thats what I say, cos when they're bad they're bloody awful.
Always nice to have some backup though, someone to care about and who cares for you.
Jeez......listen to this, its like a lonely hearts dating club...rofl
