Anybody know how fast the 3.0L goes untill the fuel cut off kicks in?? Just wondering.....thought i ask before trying...

Well I found out and for your information it's 121 mph! Really sucks to get blown away by a 2.5 Nissan whose governor kicks in at 145!

Took it out myself on a long back road.........sucks to be blown away by a nissian that you took off the line up till 110, then he pulls away!

That's strange... my got my 02 2.5 to 130 mph (thanks for I-44 toolway in OK) and that wasnt the top speed yet.. still had room under the pedal..

I think if PCM tune is enabled then say good bye to speed limiter .;)

I had mine go over 121;)

Got mine to 130 once, but that was a little downhill, every other time it cuts out at about 124mph

I've yet to test my car past 130, but it got there rather easy!

The S type is a bit different. I think they are set at 135. The X is 121. As of now, there still is nothing out to remove the speed limiter. The The S type has more performance options for removing and updating the ECM, Vers the X type which cost a small fortune and still doesn't remove the limiter...

I heard that there was a tune up program for the diesel X Types that disables the speed limiter and give extra 20 HP .Approximately one hour ago, I talked to one of mechanics who prepares racing engines for the teams and official Mossellman dealer told me thathe will get a new PCM program which will be available for Jaguars and other leading car makers in two months .

My jag when around a buck 30 as 04 stated but it cut off after that....it did get up there quite effortless and had some more but oh well....don't need to go that fast anyways!

When you guys double post does the screen freeze and than you re-type what you typed??? That is my guess because mine takes forever and I just refresh the screen and paste what I typed if the screen freezes....

When you went 130, did u still have a couple thousand rmps to spare, cos i know i did, i want to see how much more mph i can get using them

When I hit 130 I still had about 1500 rpms to go....IN 4TH GEAR!!!!!!!!! That's what pisses me off! I have more RPMS and ANOTHER WHOLE GEAR!

When im in 4th at 125 im little under 6k, so i feel the same pain.

Well, last night I ended up going to go watch 28 weeks later...really good by the way...so I didn't go to Towers nor Okeechobee to the races so I couldn't test the top speed. I'll try and do so next weekend!

130 is about all my 2.5l will do.

My 3.0 felt like it for sure had alot more in it...I'd say 140-150 easy but not so sure I'd want to go much faster than 130![&:]

196mph on my heavily modded 02 R1. The 06 Gixxer 750 is only good for about 172mph.

Your probably asking your self where I could do such a great speed? Well I know a road that has fresh smooth pavement with nothing but Orange Groves on both sides for about 5 miles. Let me tell you though, 5 miles goes by pretty quick at those speeds. LOL

You try poking your head up? I tried it over a 100mph and whew that was a killer time! After 80 is not fun!

LOL!! I know what you're talking about aquill! I poked my head up at 180 on the CBR-1000 and I almost flew back...SCARY moments! I did that on the I 75 on the way to Naples!

Your head snaps back at 80 let alone 180 by the way top speed on those is 184! ;) Rode my buddies but never tested that out!

just re-confirmed the top speed in my 2.5. both the diagnostic tool and the separate gps (garmin nuvi 350) said 122, straight road, no wind, and no matter how much i kept the pedal down, it would not increase, even though i had several hundred rpms before redline.

Goldwings are awesome! Underneath they are a crotchrocket but with all of the extras the things are awesome! I tried to find a video we talked about on our cbrforum but I couldn't find it...it was seriously one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. This guy looks like santa clause and he's riding down in tennessee and the carolinas through the twisties on a goldwing and the big recording him is riding behind him and his boxes touch the ground whether he goes to the right or left! It was awesome, if only all could have seen!

I've had around the 130 mark outta mine and there was a little left, not much.
Gotta say though, I didnt think it felt all that stable at that speed and I've driven more than a few cars at the 130 mark!

is this speed limter a US thing? What a bummer to spend all that money on a car and then not be able to use it. My 2.0 petrol has done a true 140+ (as my sat nav screen on my pocket pc switched to safe mode & this was set for 140) Oh & as we are talking bikes (my real passion) indicated160 the other week on my GSXR, not bad for a 8 year old bike with 54000 miles, but still does not accelerate as fast as my 20+ year old Suzuki RG500

Thats the bike he rides? That is freaking sweet! Too bad it wasn't black or pearl white or the metallic burgundy honda has! There are companies that make trike gold wings and they go for about 30grand! But I will own one of those when I get older! Airbags today, that thing will fly in air by the time I am of age to get one!;)

Well, the one that my buddy drives is burgundy! I could get one of those, but then I'd probably have no Jag...or Nissan!

They hold bike races there every year............unlimited speed on those roads.........worth a visit you think?

Clarkson and Co were out there a while ago from Top Gear. If I remember rightly they were road testing the Bmw 635 and I think a Porsche and maybe the other was an Aston I think........They really gave it some on those roads..............mouth watering stuff.

I'd soo love our roads to be like German Autobahns with unlimited speeds........... 70 Mph is almost pedestrian for gods sake.
I travel a helluva lotta miles in the year and as many accidents as I see are from drink/ drug related to just poor driving / concentration down to downright stupidity................NOT always about speed.
In fact some of the worst driving I've seen has been about not enough use of the proper speed on motorways etc causing allsorts of serious problems

Yeah no doubt! I've seen more accidents at low speeds than at high speeds! Idiots doing 55 in a 70 or less cause more accidents than someone speeding...its when they are cutting people off while speeding thats a problem...nother problem is adjusting speed to conditions!

Actually, most accidents happen in clear weather!

Ironically yes .My point is that drivers are getting better concentrated on traffic when weather conditions are worse then clear

All I was saying is that almost every accident in bad weather is caused by people not respecting the conditions and going faster than they should...

Baldy tires can get you in trouble QUICKLY in the rain. In dry weather they seam to grasp the floor even better, but once it starts raining, they're an EXTREME danger. I've heard of stories of people getting tickets for bald tire. Not 100% sure, but I could look into it!
