View Full Version : Brake fluid low warning light

1997 XK8 Encounter an annoying intermittent warning brake fluid low and ! brake warning message.

The reservoir is full. Warning is not consistent. Usually on start up OK then a seemingly random warning message.

Dealer "Replace the brake reservoir unit" Estimated cost $600. Seems unreasonable.

Can the circuit be disconected? (Not really needed) Or other remedy?

Anybody else have this problem.

This is my first experience with a forum.

To my knowledge you cannont disconnect it. When you took it to the dealer did they do a diagnostic on it to determain the sensor is bad? You may have a loose connection on the float. Sometimes also with these cars they retain fault's wich means if it was low once sometimes it remembers and keeps reminding you. You can have the dealer reset your fault codes and give you a print out of everyone your car has ever had as long as it hasn't been reset recently. I think it runs 125 for this service. Or try the old disconnect the battery for 1 minute then reconnect but make sure you have your radio code...

I have the same problem on my 2000 XK8. The reservoir is always full. I just reset the computer with my actron engine check computer. Its worth getting one if you own a Jag.
