Default Sunshade

Here's my new sunshade:

I just made it from my old, inexpensive sunshade that I bought at Pep Boys and have used for over 5 years. It's lightweight, easy to put up, and works great. So I thought I'd freshen it up by adding the Jaguar name and logo. I searched eBay and found that vinyl graphic for $20.00 plus $5.85 shipping custom made in the 8"x20" size I needed.

Unfortunately, that vendor no longer lists that item but if you're interested, you can try contacting TNBIGOAK on eBay and see if they can still make it.

So, what do you think?

Stuart

p.s. I just Googled "Jaguar Vinyl Graphic" and found another source: http://www.prosportstickers.com/prod...l-sticker.html Available in various colors and sizes.

Stuart S:

Looks good with the Jaguar Logo decal.

There are "custom" made to order windshield sunshades for an "exact fit" to the windshield on eBay for $34.95 with free shipping.

So, if someone really doesn't care about the Jaguar logo then this might be the way to go.

I have one of these myself to block out the harsh New Mexico sun, and it is the "exact fit". It works great, and I would highly recommend this item.

Here's the link for other Jaguar XK/XKR owners who might have a need or interest. Since the dash is leather, I highly suggest that this accessory is a neccessity. The power of the sun through the glass adds so much heat and can dry out the leather quickly.

The Sun's ultraviolet rays are an even bigger enemy to the leather than the heat. Sunshade is a good idea.

Living in the UK, I didn't have much experience of sun problems until we took my XK8 4.2-S down to the mountains of Southern Spain last year and temperatures hovered around the 100 deg F day after day.

Purchased one of those reflective sunshades from the supermarket where they had a full aisle of different sizes.

Following the warnings in this forum about the dash lifting, I'll be packing it for the return trip in the XK this year. (2000 miles across Europe in two days - joy!).

Is the luggage cover in the Coupe susceptible to sun damage?

This is a very good heavy duty sunshade and folds nicely. I have the same one for the Porsche 981.

A bit more costly, but well worth it.

Here's a link to the Jaguar OEM sunshade priced at $65.00 vs the lower priced as mentioned above at $34.99.

What Rich just said. I got it on e-bay. Also have it for the XF, my former Porsches and my R500. The one in the R500, which is parked outside and has been used (put up and taken down daily) for 4 years and still is in ok shape.

Have the same or very similar sunshade. I think it's made by Car Craft? Fits fine in the back seat area.

I'm going to Prague and Budapest on a Viking Cruise in September. The couple we're going with, booked the exact same flights as my wife and me. They paid $13,400 - Business Class, booking direct with British Airways. I paid $7,200 - Business Class and we'll be sitting beside each other. It pays to shop around.

It's certainly does pay to shop......you are in for a real treat with Viking. You will be treated like Canadian Royalty.

My wife and I spend a lot of time on the oceans. It's our favorite way to travel.

I wouldn't think so either, but there is a different OEM part number for each:

Coupe - C2P23639
Vert. - C2P23638

Maybe it has to do with the rear view mirror location. Are they different?
