Pair of Jaguar XFs Spotted Chasing James Bond for Upcoming Film
Chase scene shot in Italy features two XF sedans going after the Brit spy in his signature Aston Martin.
The upcoming James Bond film No Time to Die will feature some impressive co-stars. No, not villain Rami Malek, but rather a pair of Jaguar XF sedans. While filming in Matera, Italy, some rubberneckers were able to see the movie magic happen. And we’re so grateful they pickup up a camera to film the chase.
This behind-the-scenes footage was filmed by Fabio Dell’Aquila and uploaded to YouTube. In the scene, Bond, James Bond is behind the wheel of his Aston Martin DB5 on the run from two sleek Jaguars, and a motorcycle. The Jaguars, one in black one in silver, presumably belong to the henchmen of the uber-villain who expects our beloved super spy to die. But they give good chase!
Much of the action takes place on a narrow street in Italy, and the stunt drivers handle those Jags with precision. At one point the black Jag nearly misses some gunfire, through the magic of celluloid, of course. But it isn’t clear if the car survives.
The film appears to be taking advantage of the location and throwing in some Italian automobiles, of course. According to Sunday Times Driving, a rare Lancia Thesis is involved in the scene. The Lancia Thesis was produced from 2001 to 2009, and intended to go after the BMW 3 Series segment.
We’ve no doubt that these Jaguars make for fine counterparts to the signature Aston Martin DB5. But, as they likely are without all the fun Bond gadgetry, we doubt they can best the MI6 legend.
This isn’t the first time that Jaguars have gone after the debonair spy on film. An unbelievably gorgeous gullwing Jaguar C-X75 prototype was featured in the 2015 film Spectre, giving chase around the streets of Rome. Maybe Bond should consider avoiding Italy. Just a thought.
No Time to Die is the 25th film in the Bond catalog, and is likely to be the final outing for Daniel Craig. Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film and its many incredible chases will hit theaters in Spring of 2020.
