Jaguar Forums Member Scores Dream XJS After Years of Searching

Jaguar XJS

After living without a Jaguar for decades and searching for one for years, this member finally found the perfect XJS.

For most of us, finding our dream car isn’t terribly hard. In fact, they usually pop up when we’re not really ready to purchase them. But on the flip side, when you’ve got money in hand and space in the garage, said car is nowhere to be found. That was certainly the case with Jaguar Forums member redjp. Years of searching for the perfect Jaguar XJS left him empty-handed and frustrated. Until now, that is.

“After searching for years, I finally found the exact XJS I wanted! I intend to use this post to tell the story of her life from here on out. It’s a 1995 Sapphire coupe, AJ16, 90k miles, full maintenance records, original owners manual, tool kit, and it was an awesome deal. The only real issues are a slow refrigerant leak and an ABS light. Both not too bad to fix as we will do all work ourselves and are pretty familiar with these systems.

It was 350 miles away. I went to check it out, bought it, and drove it home this morning. What an exquisite ride it was! My wife, to whom my E-Type left a bad taste, even loves it. I let my daughter drive it and she had that Jag grin the whole time and said ‘I get it Dad, I understand you car guys now, this is what driving is all about!’ Only have the one picture so far, but it looks better than that and actually is in better shape than the seller’s pictures led me to believe. I will post as I work my way through it and thank you all in advance for all the great information within these forums!!”

It’s truly a satisfying end (or beginning?) to a long-running search. In fact, the OP almost pulled the trigger on another XJS just a few weeks prior. And he sought out advice on that potential purchase from fellow members in this thread. It was also there that he gave us a little more background on his reasons for wanting to pick up one of these classic Jaguar vehicles.

“I’ve been trying to decide between an XK or XJS. But now, I’ve made up my mind completely and want to get an XJS. So here is the story so far. Twenty years ago I traded my 1971 E-Type in for a wife, kids, and promise to get another one in the future. Well, the future is finally here, but E-Types are a bit out of my range. My old one sold for over $80k the last time it sold before I lost track of it. I have always loved the XJS, and I am a sucker for the rare and slightly odd.”

Unfortunately, that particular Jaguar sold before the OP could make it to the dealership. But we’d say that things ultimately worked out in the end. We’re eager to see this old Jaguar get fixed up and hit the road, obviously. So be sure and head over here to stay tuned for the many adventures this excited owner has in store for his new ride!
