Jaguar F-Type R

Driving reviews for Jaguar’s all-new F-Type R are rolling in, and needless to say, they’re overwhelmingly positive.

It’s been just a few short weeks since Jaguar officially unveiled its refreshed and refreshing new F-Type. But despite that little bit of elapsed time, reviewers are already getting their hands on this exciting product. As a result, we’re currently being bombarded with videos filled with driving impressions and other opinions pretty much everyone has to share about the 2021 model. Heck, we’ve already seen dozens of stunning pictures of the car and heard everything there is to know about it, too.

Thus, we thought it would be prudent to whittle down this information overload and sum it up quite succinctly here for you, loyal reader. After all, we’re certainly interested to hear what people think about the new F-Type R. But not everybody has several hours free to watch every single video out there. Thus, we sifted through the pile and came up with the best ones we could find.

Carwow

Mat from Carwow was able to drive the new F-Type R around Portugal, which is where a whole slew of folks got some wheel time as well. On some of the world’s finest driving roads, no doubt. So what did he think? “This has to be one of the most dramatic face lifts in any car’s history. It almost looks like a completely new car,” Mat says. “And oh my God, the way it grips is nuts. I like the fact that Jaguar has stuck with a supercharged engine. The further you push your foot, the more performance you get. It’s just progressive.”

AutoTrader

Rory Reid of Top Gear fame fell in love with the F-Type R’s exhaust, in particular. But also its quick-shifting transmission and driving characteristics. “There’s a lot to love about the entire powertrain in this car,” Reid says. “But the gearbox is the star of the show. This thing is so involving. The F-Type R sounds utterly joyous. It sounds like a dinosaur gargling a bag full of hand grenades.”

Autocar

Simon Davis of Autocar calls the new F-Type R a “hairy-chested 911 rival,” which sounds pretty accurate. “Material quality is very good,” he notes. “The seats are very supportive, and the driving position is spot on. The soundtrack is obviously to die for. The performance is to die for. It pulls like a freight train. The gearbox works incredibly well. And it feels incredibly settled in the corners.”

Auto Express

Auto Express goes so far as to ask if the new F-Type R is the perfect sports car, which is a lofty claim. “It looks significantly more attractive than it did before,” they note. “The steering is really, really nice. Performance is rapid, really rapid. It rides and stops really well. It has massive traction everywhere. So are there any flaws? Not really any major ones, to think of.”
