1972 Jaguar XKE

Lovingly maintained by a Jaguar Forums member, this classic Jaguar E-Type sports car has got it all.

We come across a lot of great Jaguars in the Marketplace section of Jaguar Forums. But this 1972 Jaguar XKE Series 3 really made our pupils dilate. Owned by Forum member All4Jags, the classic has been beautifully restored and looks remarkably clean. This Jaguar XKE has long been parked in our dream garage. Now it is on the market, and trust: we are tempted!

All4Jags has had the car for quite some time, and he would like its next owner to be someone who truly appreciates the high-performance E-type gem.

With 61,000 on the ticker, this car has a lot of kick in it. The 2+2 has a Jaguar V12 mated to a 4-speed manual, and it is pristine. In no small part due to the work All4Jags put into his ride.

I owned the car since the early ’80s and I’d like to find a good home for it.

Originally an ugly Fawn color (beige). In 1986 it went an extensive and expensive body off restoration and painted with Jaguar Gray– original color used on 1986 XJS. BBS style wheels from Jaguar XJS were fitted on the car and sent to be anodized in matching Gray color.

Complete interior replacement, the engine was redone, stainless exhaust system was fitted, rear axle assembly. With all-new poly bushings to replace the original rubber. The differential was redone at the same time, and updated Lucas ignition amplifier was fitted.

No surprise, the E-Type coupe has garnered attention.

The car was featured at the Detroit Autorama after completion in 1988.

Used very little since restoration was done, and I had to put in storage in 1994 (due to lack of space and time.) Space is a real problem now and as I am getting older I don’t have the ability to “tinker” with the car every spring as these cars need to.

Most very thing works fine but, after all, it is an E-type and attention is needed to minor details.

We love classic Jaguars, and it always a thrill to find a vintage E-Type that is so ready to hit the road. We have no doubt this will appeal to many who are happy to attend to this XKE’s every need.
