Jaguar XKR Are an Absolute Bargain Right Now
You Can Drive a Supercharged British V8 Sports Car For Under Twenty Grand
Anybody who appreciates luxury sports cars is well aware that the only thing faster than the car itself is its rate of depreciation. that said, it’s still remarkably shocking how cheap early XKRs have gotten in recent years. Want an example? Here’s one for sale in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania for just a hair under twenty grand.
That’s a lot of car for the money, considering the impressive performance on tap – 420 horsepower from a supercharged 4.2 liter V8 that sounds incredible at any speed. Being a Jaguar, there’s plenty of luxury amenities to keep you occupied when you aren’t busy stomping the loud pedal, and it’s hard to deny that the XKR is a total knockout in the looks department.
Given that the body style really didn’t change much throughout production, which ran from 2006 to 2014, you’ll still look quite impressive rolling up to the local Burger King in your new bargain-priced Jaguar – if you care about that sort of thing. Just don’t ask them to valet it for you.
This car looks to have a clean Carfax and looks well taken care of, with four previous owners and 108,000 miles on the odometer. That many owners scares us, but given that many of these were leased, and that the car is almost a decade old, it’s forgivable. The automatic transmission, however, is a bit more of a let-down, although the lack of a third pedal might have saved this car some abuse in its lifetime.
Before you take the plunge on your bargain-priced dream car, however, remember that maintenance and parts cost will still reflect that of a car that cost much, much more when it was new. Taking into account the XKR’s age and mileage, you’d do well to do careful research and price out repairs for common problems.
