1960 Jaguar XK150 S 3.8 Roadster

As one of only 17 RHD 3.8-powered Jaguar XK150 S roadsters produced, this classic is breathtaking.

When Jaguar rolled out the XK150 in 1958 it made quite an impact on grand tourers and sports cars. But when they released the XK150 S, and put a 3.8L under the hood as a test for their upcoming E-Type, they really sweetened the pot. The powertrain was the perfect fit. It boosted the performance, and alongside the XK150 S’s flawless design, was the very synthesis of speed and grace.

It is unusual to come across a 3.8 XK150 S for sale, especially one so pristine. Unfortunately, Jaguar only had limited production of the 1960 XK150 S 3.8. We spotted this hidden treasure for sale at Girardo & Company.

Making it even more rare, this was only one of 17 RHD Jaguar XK150 S 3.8 open two seaters produced in 1960.

Well loved and maintained, it has the original chassis, engine, gearbox, and body.

Rich red leather in the interior nicely compliments the cream exterior. And sounds (and looks) pretty tasty.

Seriously, it is incredible how cherry this ride is. There is only minimal wear and tear, and frankly we like it. It has just just enough to make it all the more appealing.

And it doesn’t just look amazing, it handles like heaven. The 3.8L DOHC straight-six has got the juice. With 268 hp @ 5500 rpm, it can sprint to top speeds of 136 mph.

It was long owned by Jaguar XK expert, John May of XK Developments. May has built an impressive career (and a dream garage) restoring and building Jaguar XK models. So clearly, this Jaguar was in the right hands.

According to Girardo & Co., the car underwent “a total chassis-off restoration 10 years ago, very little used since.” After May sold it, it was inspected by Chris Keith-Lucas of CKL Developments. Included in the cars history file is the inspection, which confirms that it is “clearly a genuine XK 150S.”

Oh yes, it is a beauty. However, we are thinking that it might be a tad out of our price range. Price is given only after approval of application. As they say, if you have to ask…well…. For now this Jaguar has earned a permanent spot in our dream collection.
