2022 Jaguar F-Type Gets a New V8 Option, Price Starts Under $70K

To paraphrase Henry Ford, you can order a 2022 Jaguar F-Type in any engine configuration as long as it’s a supercharged V8. Meet the F-TYPE P450!

Jaguar’s flagship F-Type has a new supercharged V8 engine option for 2022. Don’t worry, last year’s 575hp F-TYPE R is still the king cat, but say hello to the F-TYPE P450. Which makes 450 horsepower, right? Nope! 444 ponies, actually. But who would buy an F-TYPE P444? That’s silly.

More good news, the F-TYPE P450 MSRPs for less than $70 grand for the rear-wheel-drive coupe. And under $80 grand for the R-DYNAMIC AWD coupe. Or live a little and snag a convertible. Up to you. And for those who aren’t good at maths, that makes the P450 about $33,000 more affordable than the F-TYPE R.

Aesthetically speaking, the 2022 F-TYPE remains unchanged following its 2021 refresh. Not everyone was pleased with the new front and rear lighting schemes. But for us here at Jaguar Forums, the F-TYPE remains one of the most beautiful cars on the road today. If that’s not enough for your taste, the R-DYNAMIC AWD offers “bespoke badging; a gloss black front splitter, side sills, valance, and venturi; auto-dimming, powerfolding, heated door mirrors with memory; and 20″ Style 6003, split-spoke, gloss Dark Grey with Contrast Diamond Turned Finish Wheels.” How ’bout dem apples?

Under the hood of the F-TYPE P450, you’ll find a 444hp supercharged V8 that hits 428 lb-ft. of peak torque at only 2,500RPM. Want to hit 60 miles-an-hour as quick as you can? Sure, we all do. Jaguar claims a 4.4-second run for the P450. Or about nine-tenths of a second slower than the F-TYPE R. Interestingly enough, stepping up to the P450 R-DYNAMIC AWD trim doesn’t improve 0-60 times. (So I guess I’ll be keeping that $10 grand in the bank until new tires are needed.)

The Jaguar F-TYPE P450 also features standard Configurable Dynamics, 20-inch wheels, larger brakes (380mm front, 376mm rear), and switchable active exhaust. Speaking of which, there’s even a Good Neighbor Mode (aka Quiet Mode) for early morning cold starts. But who are we kidding, you’re just gonna override that in Dynamic Mode and let your Jaguar ROAR. Sleeping neighbors be damned!

On the inside, the F-TYPE P450 boasts six-way electric power seats with “Windsor Leather and satin-finish Noble Chrome. Beautiful details include monogram stitch patterns in the seats and door trims, Jaguar Leaper motifs in the headrests, and subtle Jaguar Est.1935 markings on the center console finisher, glovebox release button surround, and seatbelt guides.”

However, jump up to the F-TYPE P450 R-DYNAMIC AWD and you get “12-way electric memory front seats, electrically adjustable steering column with memory, Delta Aluminum Center Console, and R-DYNAMIC branded metal treadplates.” Fancy, y’all.
