Aaron Paul Drives a Sweet Custom Land Rover Defender

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul once described the Defender as one of his dream cars and uses it when at his cabin in the Idaho mountains.

If you are at all familiar with the iconic AMC series Breaking Bad or happen to be a fan of the movie Need For Speed, you undoubtedly know Aaron Paul. His legendary role as the loveable and moral meth-head Jesse Pinkman goes down as one of the best portrayals in television history. His other roles, such as Tobey Marshall in Need For Speed and the loveable Todd Chavez on Netflix’s Bojack Horseman, keep him cemented as a versatile and talented actor.  One thing that isn’t too common knowledge, though, is the fact that he drives a blacked-out Land Rover Defender 90 from time to time.

In an interview with Men’s Journal, Paul once referred to a blacked-out Land Rover Defender as one of his dream cars. As you can see above, he got one. He was discussing how he uses it when accessing his private cabin in the Idaho mountains.

Blacked out, it certainly is. From end to end, this badass Defender is as dark as night. The windows rock an intense shade of tint, and the only parts that aren’t black are the stand-out chrome mirrors and window trim. Other modifications include black (obviously) running boards, and a modified front bumper housing two LED fog lights. While I’d love to show you more of it, I only snapped one picture of it that day. And finding other photos of this car is downright impossible.

I’ll admit, the Defender is not the first car I would suspect to see with Pau. However, on one cold February day in 2016, Paul and his family went to dinner at a Boise, Idaho pizza restaurant where a friend worked. I happened to be right next door. And after my buddy texted me to say Paul was there, I walked outside and immediately saw the Defender.

My friends and I didn’t bother Paul while he was eating, but he was gracious enough to snap a quick picture with us as he was heading home.

The best part about his Defender, though, is that it’s a Defender. You’d expect an A-list celebrity to drive something like a Lamborghini, which he occasionally does. However, it is always refreshing to see when a star has a down-to-earth car. While Defenders are certainly not the cheapest things out there, it is a lot more attainable for most than a supercar.

Having common ground and relating to someone who’s made the big time is always a cool feeling. Not only that, but him simply purchasing a long-time yet attainable dream car shows just how humble he can be. It’s always great to meet a celebrity and walk away knowing they aren’t a terrible person. If Paul happens to be one of your heroes, I highly recommend meeting him. You won’t regret it. You just might see his gorgeous Defender 90, too.
