1966 Jaguar E-Type Series I Fixed-Head Coupe

Enzo Ferrari once called the Jaguar E-Type the most beautiful car ever built.

There’s perhaps no car that we’ve written about more here at Jaguar Forums than the E-Type. There’s plenty of good reasons why. They’re a landmark car for Jaguar, they’re an icon of the Swinging Sixties, and they’re unspeakably beautiful.

In fact, Enzo Ferrari once called the Jaguar E-Type the most beautiful car ever built. Still don’t believe us? Take a look at this 1966 Series I fixed-head coupe for sale on BringATrailer.

Currently residing in Arizona, this beige E-Type is the same color as the desert sand – or your grandmother’s refrigerator. While a beige sports car may not be everyone’s cup of tea (we find ourselves rather fond of it), the color does absolutely nothing to damped the E-Type’s natural beauty.

The car was originally sold in New York, which, for us, conjures up images of the beautiful Christina Hendricks behind the wheel – we really ought to re-watch Mad MenIn 2011, the car was subjected to a body-off restoration by Heritage Classics of West Hollywood, California.

At that time, it was repainted Beige from its original Opalescent Golden Sand hue. Again, we’re quite fond of the new color. It’s not a typical color for a sports car, but for us, that’s part of the appeal. The Jaguar E-Type is a car that attracts attention wherever it goes due to its beauty. A unique color just adds to the mystique, and makes the experience that much more memorable.

In addition to the paint, the radiator and alternator were upgraded, and an era-appropriate Blaupunkt head unit was fitted. We like to drive our classic cars here at Jaguar Forums – we’re not going to complain about improvements to the electrical and cooling systems.

This E-Type includes a spare tire, jack, tool kit, and a certificate from teh Jaguar Heritage Trust, confirming its provenance. The certificate also reveals details like the build date and original delivery date, but it also reveals that the engine is not original.

Still, we wouldn’t let minor details like that keep us from owning this unique E-Type. Clearly, at least a few people agree with us, as the bidding on the auction is getting as hot as the Arizona desert.
