I-Pace Stuns at the L.A. Auto Show
Jaguar’s all-electric I-Pace is a new direction for the iconic brand, yet maintains its Jaguar heritage while rivaling the likes of Tesla.
Jaguar has made a statement with the I-Pace. Though the brand has a vast heritage in the internal combustion engine world, this crossover proves that they are ready for the future of the auto industry. What’s more is the fact that this isn’t just an electric vehicle. It’s a high quality and well thought out electric vehicle.
At the L.A. Auto Show, Jaguar is displaying their top of the range model. The I-Pace EV400 features all-wheel drive standard, and a 90-kilowatt-hour battery capable of over 200 miles in range. While it still falls nearly 100 miles short in range to its rival, the Tesla Model X, it’s more than enough for the average daily driver.
Don’t think for a second that Jaguar has left the performance aspect out of their electric brainchild. The I-pace 400EV will sprint from zero to sixty in just 4.5 seconds. Thanks to its instant electric torque and impressive 394 horsepower output, it’s very peppy when you put your foot down. While you don’t get the same engine roar as internal combustion, the sheer acceleration of electric cars is exhilarating. It’s truly something you have to experience if you’re still struggling to get behind electric vehicles.
A common question among those learning about electric vehicles regards charge time. The I-Pace’s 90-kilowatt-hour battery can be charged from zero to one hundred percent in 12.9 hours using a dedicated wall box in your home. Of course, the charging time drops drastically when using public DC chargers. When charging at 100 kilowatts, the I-Pace will go from zero to eighty percent in merely 40 minutes. Meaning, you can plug it in on your lunch break, enjoy your meal, and come back to a nearly fully charged battery. Electric cars are a lot more practical for public use than most would think. With ever-evolving tech, we will likely be seeing even more rapid charge times shortly.

We aren’t the only ones praising Jaguar’s efforts. The I-Pace is quite decorated by the World Car Awards committee. It won 2019 World Car Design of the Year and 2019 World Green Car. Even more impressive, though, is that it won 2019 World Car of the Year. This little beauty overtook all other competition and sits atop its pedestal.
The I-Pace EV400 AWD starts at a base MSRP of $69,500, which puts it $12,000 under the base Model X price. Even at the top trim level, the I-Pace HSE, the MSRP still starts $500 cheaper than a base Model X.
While many still are not fond of the electric revolution, it’s getting a lot easier on the eyes. Many companies are turning to electricity, and we are very excited to see what else Jaguar has in store.
