Jaguar F-Pace SVR Strikes Fear in German Rivals

By -

Smaller luxury performance SUVs are gaining in popularity, and Jaguar’s F-Pace SVR is here to crash the party.

TrackDayTV has a point in this video. Jaguar isn’t really doing much promotion on one of their best vehicles ever. One host, Sean Patel, says about the F-Pace SVR, “not many people know about it, and I think that’s unfortunate.” But we do want people to know about it because it has virtues worth highlighting.

Patel might be a bit biased because he owns the satin red example you see in this video. Patel says, “This car does sit on the heavier end of the scale compared to its competition. I’m talking about the X3M, GLC63, Stelvio Quadrifoglio, and Macan Turbo. But this one packs the most punch.” He’s right. It shares the supercharged V8 from other SVR Jaguars so it pumps out 550 horsepower and 508 lb/ft of torque.

“To get the best performance out of it, put it into drive, then shift it into sport,” Patel says. What’s the result? Reaching 60 miles per hour is achieved in only 4.03 seconds. Only 9.81 are needed to reach the century mark. Not that it’s a 1/4 mile car, but the results there are impressive too. All 1,320 feet are covered in 12.22 seconds, with 113.73 miles per hour achieved in that distance.

Mile per hour tests were also conducted for 40-100 MPH and 60-120 MPH respectively. The first test was completed in 7.01 seconds, and the higher speeds were achieved in 12.03 seconds. This actually puts the SVR in a similar acceleration group with respectable rides such as the BMW M2.

Jaguar’s F-Pace SVR is also the only vehicle Jaguar offers that includes performance with a bit of practicality. The interior is a nice place to be. For anyone who wants a luxurious V8 grunt but needs more space than an F-Type, the F-Pace is the only Jaguar option. Patel confirms this by saying, “it has a suede headliner, everything is wrapped in leather, there’s carbon fiber trim, really cool bucket seats that are heated and cooled and actually really comfortable.” Jaguar is smart to offer this model. For any given car company, SUVs are the typical volume sellers.
