Elon, who? Jaguar I-Pace offering current Tesla owners $3,000 in discounts.

As Jaguar makes a name for itself in the EV market with the I-Pace, they know that they first need to lure customers from the Tesla. The I-Pace, already named 2019 European Car of the Year is hoping to entice current Tesla customers with substantial discounts.

Jaguar told Engadget that it’s offering a discount of $3,000 off the price of an I-Pace to a select group of Tesla owners. The offer additionally includes includes any buyer from a household that currently owns a Tesla.

Jaguar isn’t requiring current Tesla owners to leave Elon Musk out in the cold, as the offer applies to new purchases, but do not require a trade in. Proof of Teslas ownership (and/or registration) is all that is needed to nab the discount.

Of course, the hope with such a discount is to get potential buyers to test drive the I-Pace. Especially regarding concern over the Jaguar I-Pace price, which is notably higher than the Tesla. But that price tag certainly seems to be earned. Once most people feel the Jaguar experience in an electrified SUV, they tend to have their minds changed.  Case in point, the I-Pace has nabbed some pretty impressive accolades, and garnered over 55 awards worldwide, including UK Car of the Year, BBC Top Gear magazine EV of the Year, China Green Car of the Year, and Autobest’s ECOBEST Award.

The $3,000 discount promotion will run until September 30. For more information, contact your Jaguar dealer.
