Lister LFT-C 666 F-Type Proves to Be a Very Devilish Machine
Latest Lister creation may come with a sky-high price tag, but it more than justifies that with its many attributes.
The standard Jaguar F-Type is undoubtedly an impressive machine in its own right. Especially if you opt for the 550 hp F-Type R or the SVR and its 575 hp V8. Either of these rides will net you a four-ish second 0-60 time, which is good enough to keep up with some pretty prominent supercars of today. But if you want a bit more out of your stylish Jag, Lister is here for you. The aftermarket tuner will happily sell you its LFT-C 666, which produces (duh) 666 devilish horsepower. And as Rory Reid found out in this recent Auto Trader review, that’s more than enough to completely transform the way the F-Type feels.
“How do you create a monster?” Reid asks rhetorically. “Step one is to take an already extreme car and turn it up to eleven. That’s the recipe Lister has followed to create the LFT-C 666. It might be based on the Jaguar F-Type, but it now features new wheels and tires. New suspension, new carbon fiber parts, and an engine that makes a devilish 666 brake horsepower. It’s a recipe that’s maybe best described as demonic. But demonic really isn’t a good enough word to describe this kind of performance.”
While the Lister LFT-C 666 only carries a decent horsepower advantage over the F-Type R on paper, it apparently feels completely different. “A normal F-Type R does 0-60 in about four seconds,” Reid says. “This thing, 3.2. A normal F-Type R has a top speed of 186 miles-per-hour. This thing, 205. Those are crazy numbers.” Lister accomplishes this by using a smaller supercharger pulley, which ups the boost. In addition, the LFT-C 666 also features a revamped engine management system and custom intercooler to keep things cool under the hood.
Reid can only find a couple of minor issues with this freight train Lister has created, in fact. He dislikes the name, which he likens to “the devil’s fax machine.” Reid also points out the car’s sky-high price tag of $140,000. But when you’ve got a Jag that can outrun much more expensive Lamborghinis, is that really asking too much? Otherwise, Reid loves everything about the LFT-C 666. Including its glorious sound, looks, and bespoke interior.
In the end, Reid believes the Lister justifies its massive price tag. “Clearly, there are a lot of ways this car doesn’t make sense,” he says. “But this Lister wasn’t designed to be a logical car. It was designed to stir the emotions. To give you bragging rights. To make you smile. And there’s no question that it’s massively successful in all of those areas. This car is incredibly special. The way it sounds, the way it makes you feel. It’s just incredible. And it’s hard to put a price on that.”
