Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Enters Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY Series
Racing series has its first team announcement, which sets the bar very high.
Big news is happening in the world of EV motorsports. Jaguar — an early devotee of Formula E — has announced the first team to commit to eTROPHY, and it’s a big one. Jaguar has welcomed with open arms Rahal Letterman Lanigan racing as the first team to solidify a place on the grid. eTROPHY will be the support series for Formula E, featuring production-based Jaguar I-PACE racers.
Twenty cars will make up the field for the 2018-2019 season. All of which will be Jaguar I-PACE race cars. Jaguar’s SVO operations out of Warwickshire, UK will build the cars. They will be available for “arrive and drive” opportunities for teams and drivers.
Accolades from a world-class driver like Rahal have been a great boost to Jaguar and EV racing abroad. Rahal notes, “Innovation is integral to motorsports and electric car racing is an important part of the future so this opportunity came at the perfect time for RLL.”
RLL already has tremendous success in a wide variety of motorsport. Including, most notably, almost three decades in IndyCar, and numerous championships in sports car racing. We anticipate continued success for their I-PACE team in eTROPHY.
All this news means that Jaguar can claim to be at the forefront of production car based EV motorsports.
