Savage Porsche 911 Turbo S Absolutely Thumps Jaguar F-Type R AWD

The Jaguar might have been better off not showing up at all for this one. That’s how embarrassing the race below was. It was like when the little kid in school got challenged by the bully, and he just knows he’s going to get destroyed, but has to show up for pride’s sake. At the very least to show he wasn’t scared of the big, bad wolf. But… it was only inevitable that his house was going to get blown down with one swift swoop.

On paper, these two go about things pretty differently, despite their similar shapes. The Porsche has a twin-turbo flat-6 that puts out 572 brake horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. The Jag uses a supercharged V8 that puts out 542 brake horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque. The F-Type weighs 3,814 pounds against the 911’s 3,527. The Porsche also costs $193,000 (by today’s conversion rates) compared to the Jaguar costing $121,000. That’s a HUGE difference. And it showed in the race.

The Turbo S jumps to 60 in freakin’ 2.6 seconds on its way to the half-mile in 16.7 seconds. It took the F-Type R AWD 18.4 seconds to reach the half-mile and 3.5 from 0-60. Which is great, but nothing compared to the Porsche.  Sorry, big cat.
