Jaguar I-PACE HSE

The new partnership between Jaguar and United Airlines is the first of its kind, and is focused on luxury and sustainability.

Redefining the Jaguar brand is going to be crucial for it’s all-electric, higher price point strategy to succeed. And with new models still roughly two years away from showrooms, that means the iconic British marque will have to get creative with its marketing opportunities. Enter a new partnership with United Airlines, which will see the carrier use Coventry’s I-PACE HSE for gate-to-gate transfers at some of its US hubs.

While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen an automaker partner with an airline for this type of service, the Jaguar United deal is the first to use all-electric vehicles. The service will be available to United’s MileagePlus Premier members, and will begin this month at Chicago’s O’Hare International before expanding to Denver, Houston, Newark, Washington D.C, San Francisco, and Los Angeles by the end of the year.

According to the press release, program is designed to the appeal to the increasing number of customers who value both the luxury and sustainability when traveling.

Initial predictions are that the service will see over 1,000 users every day, which means that 30,000 well-heeled folks will get to experience the I-PACE HSE every month. Now, whether they’ll get to experience a silent, 4.5-second trip from zero to 60 mph is another question entirely. But I think it would be a hoot to have a hot shoe driver show just how capable a modern performance Jaguar can be when given the beans.

Of course, pace — along with grace and space — is just one of the qualities which has historically defined Jaguar. So the short trips will be a great opportunity to explore some of the creature comforts, like Amazon Alexa connectivity, cutting edge design, and the amazing Bowers and Wilkins sound systems which characterize Jaguar’s modern stable. If you’re planning a trip through one of United hubs, keep an eye out for the service, and if you get to experience it firsthand, hit me up and let me know how it was!
