Oh god. I was scanning, read your title and immediately thought "SRT-4" which is a Neon. Blame dyslexia will I ever!

Use craigslist, autotrader.com and cars.com. Those are the best three. Start by looking close to home then radiating out. If you find a car on a website, do your best to actually drive the vehicle before hand to determine if it is indeed the best.

I just went through this. A couple of points to consider.

Figure out which series you'd prefer.

1. 03-04 Slightly different front end and the early style gauges. Brembo brakes.

2. 05 Newer front end with the later style gauges. Brembo brakes.

3. 06-08 Later style gauges. The brembo brakes are deleted. The engine gained VVT and there are a few other styling changes most of which are minor. I think these are 400HP instead of 390 but I'm not sure it's all that important.

How much do you want to spend?

I found Autotrader, Cars.com and Ebay were all very usefull. You can get an early lead on a car on Autotrader or Cars.com which is how I nailed mine down before it hit Ebay.

Depending upon what you're willing to spend I found 5 or 6 nice cars under 35k. I saw several very nice looking 03 MY cars go for between $13-18K with under 35K miles and one had 18K miles.

I drove an 05 car in silver with a very unique interior that had 50K miles and it was tight as a drum, very quick and did nothing wrong. I found that encouraging. Unfortunately it was a smokers car.

If you really like black you're in luck.

Have fun.

I have found from looking for my STR that you have to expand your search and be patient especially considering the production numbers of the STR. It took me about a month and a half to find mine and it was a 6 hour drive to get to it one way. So just decide what you want and keep the search up and you will find what you want. I was pretty picky so I felt I actually found mine pretty quick. What you want is out there so gotta be patient. I wasnt patient when I bought my Mercury Marauder about 5 years ago. I wanted a Blue or a Dark Toreador Red one. Well production number were about 981 for the DTR and 327 for the Blue. I settle on a black which was about 8000 and wouldnt you know it had my black for about a month and guess what I finally see for sale as I was driving by a dealership, a dang DTR. So its worth it to be a little patient if you find something thats not quite what you want.
