about to purchase 2006 XJ8...alpine audio swap question
Hey i'm new here. Me and my father went to look at a 2006 XJ8L this afternoon with 38,000 miles and absolutely loved it. The only problem is, despite being listed as "loaded with every option", the vehicle lacked the upgraded alpine audio system. my dad is not quite an audiophile, but the stock system just isn't going to cut it.
So we talk to the guy about it. He also has a 2004 XJ8 with high miles, but it is equipped with the alpine audio system. He said that he would be willing to swap in the alpine audio from this car to the one we are interested in, as long as we bought the car at the advertised price, which is quite good already.
So my question is this: he said he would be swapping in the upgraded speakers and alpine amp into the 2006 and that the headunit on both cars is identical so it would not be touched. is this true? both cars have navigation.
is this a direct/easy swap? will any qualified stereo shop be able to tackle this without creating any rattles or improper fitments inside the vehicle? and do those dual subwoofers in the rear deck swap in as well? thanks for your help.

if you're asking whats wrong with the premium audio...it's that there is nothing premium about it. even the alpine isn't great for a car in this class, but the base audio system is garbage. hollow sounding, weak on the bass, treble gets tinny, and high volume distorts.

well found out that it is not a direct swap. they swapped to the alpine speakers but were unable to install the alpine amp or the real parcel subs. what should i do now?
my suggestion to my dad was to go to a stereo shop, and get either a 4 channel amplifier powering the upgraded speakers. i guess that would require a lineout converter or something.
my other idea was to buy a component set for the front. then buy a 2 channel amp, run the components off the amp, and leave everything else running off the OEM nav headunit.
i'm looking for the cleanest and cheapest solution for better sound.
