No rear speaker audio
Dear Dr. PHD12v or others:
Can you diagnose why the rear speakers on an Alpine audio system are not operable? I run the fader control to 100% rear and no sound whatsoever...not a peep.
My guess is the amplifier is Foxtrot Uniform, but wondering if there is some simpler, (un)reasonable explanation like...
...some bizarre fuse has blown
...wire harness is loose
...hydraulic oil from the convertible top pump has leaked into a compromising location (Jaguar engineering discussion circa 1996: "Where should we put the hydraulic pump for the top? I know, let's put it right above the amplifier and CD changer. What could go wrong?")

Non-Op Rear Speakers
Dear Pilly40:
The short answer to your question is "no", I haven't found the problem yet. Back in December I purchased a used amplifier and determined that it was not the problem (unless the "new" one had the exact same failure). But, I did determine that some small amount of sound came out of the rear, which tells me the wiring is good.
So, with only 4 major components to the system (radio, wiring, harnesses, speakers), I think I have narrowed it down to just the radio. It's been too cold to bother with it so far, and a used radio I acquired is sitting here on my desk right here staring at me waiting to be properly put into its correct spot in the dashboard.
But, as with all things Jaguar, I won't make any wagers on its successful fix until I am done.
Cheers,
Mark (aka n875ED)
