Irish, as for the kit to mount the radio in the dash, you will need to check out the Mina website (if I remember right). They are about the only one that I know of that has the correct harness. I know I went into Best Buy just this week asking about stereo stuff and they told me that they can't get the wiring harness to adapt to the factory harness. So, more than likely, they would end up cutting your factory plug off and wiring the radio directly to the car. Not the best of choices. If you do go that way, can I have the old plug?

As for the face plate, I would ask them exactly how they plan on installing the radio in the dash. Do they have the correct face plate that will accept a single DIN radio for a Jag (I doubt it as they don't carry stuff for the Jag), or are they going to mount the radio in the dash using plumbers tape and then simply cut a piece of plastic to fill the space that is left. Again, if you look on the Mina site, they have the radio mounting kit for what you need. IF you lived close to me, I would tell you to come on over and we would install the stereo right in my drive way. That way you can see what is going on and then things can be tweaked to be exactly how you want it. But, it is a bit far to be travelling for a simple stereo install.

Personally, if you are getting a stereo installed, spend the extra few bucks and have a stereo shop that does higher end stuff do the job. You will be rewarded with a much more professional job and something that is done properly. The big thing is to ask them specifically (even get it in writing) that they WILL!!! use a wiring harness to tap into the factory wiring and use a mounting kit, not simply cut a piece of plastic to fill the gap. You find a shop that will put it in writing, odds are you will get what you are after.

Irish, check out autotoys.com. They have the radio kit for $60 (USD) and it is compatible with a single DIN radio (you get a storage bin for either under or over the radio). http://www.installer-parts.com also has the kit for $37 (USD). The part number is 99-9500. It is made by Metra.

As for the wiring harness, I am not finding any. Any site that has a listing for it says that it is not available at this moment. I will see what i can find. Hopefully someone else will have a good link for you.

I think the same place you suggested for the face plate has a wiring kit. I wouldn't get BB to install it though, they will frankenstien it in, unless they actually have a good installer and not a 10.00 per hour guy who just follows a wiring diagram. You should attempt it yourself, I've done a few and always get more satisfaction out of the finished product.

as a side option, i have a few friends up your way that would do a cleaner job than say 98% of any best buy's could. I do have some people that work for best buy that are excellent installers, however they are few and far between. let me a generalized area of toronto and ill get you in touch with someone there. feel free to PM me and ill see if i can get someone to take care of your baby.
