Hi guys. Question for you, I have a 99 XJ8 with the stock Cd changer in the trunk. I bought the car with no magazine, and really not much care if it worked, but I bought a mag off ebay and sure enough it does not work. The botton in the cabin do work, but the player doesn't even eject the magazine, and yes I bought the right one. I put it in empty just in case. I was able to get it out using two flat head screws drivers, careful not to damage anything. Is there any way to fix the player without bying another one? If I bought a non-factory cd changer would it work with my steering whell and radio buttons?

If you press CD on the head unit, does the display say anything, and if so, what?
The player is made by Alpine, but it uses a proprietary Jaguar specific language to talk to the head unit, so aftermarket units won't work, without significant modifications - beyond the ability of most users.
Used changers are available regularly on eBay for well under $100.
