X350 Navigation & Premium audio: Wiring in an Aux-in
The Jaguar parts department will not sell me the Jaguar Aux-in (ACM) module. I have read it does not work correctly on the XJ8. I asked Dension if they sold the XJ8 Aux-in or if their Mercedes Aux-in would work. This is the response I got from Dension:
"Dear Customer,
Unfortunately Dension company can not give you the requested solution for Jaguar D2B. We did this product but only as an OEM. Along our contract with the Jaguar only they can sell this device. Please contact your locally Jaguar reseller for more details.
Best Regards
Dension Support Team"
Has anyone added an Aux-in to the premium audio entertainment system, with or without navigation? Where did you splice in?
On a related topic, I would like to collect wiring diagrams for the X350's entertainment system in one place. If you have links or can provide wiring diagrams, pin-outs, layout diagrams or any other advice, especially for the premium audio with navigation, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks in advance!

WhiteXKR, I downloaded the JTIS from the link at the FAQ in your post. I do not see electrical diagrams for MY 2004 on either disc. The first disc goes up to 2003. The second disc doesn't seem to do much but try to install adobe reader 5.
Where can I find MY 2004 electrical diagrams? Thanks!

I still don't see where I can select / input MY 2004. It appears JTIS covers up to MY 2003, and does not cover models after that MY. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer. Last night I purchased this workshop manual on ebay. I will let you know if it doesn't have what I need.

Know anything about the fiber-optic entertainment system? Is the changer connected to the head unit with fiber-optic cable?

Thank you for the pdf!
The X350 employs a fiber-optic bus, called D2B, for communication among multimedia devices. I know Mercedes took this protocol and ran with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesti...s_(automotive)
I don't know if any other Jags employ D2B.
The local dealer parts guy told me yesterday that the Audio Connectivity Module (iPod/aux-in) for the X350 has been deleted from the catalog and he cannot order it for me. He sells an ACM for the XK (Part # C2P16491) and an ACM for the S-Type (Part # C2C40513). The S-Type ACM costs almost twice what the one for the XK costs.
I'm guessing the extra cost for the S-Type ACM is because it speaks D2B, but I don't know.

Yes the Audio Connectivity Module accessory was withdrawn for use in the XJ; as best I can tell, there was some kind of software glitch that prevented reliable operation with the exploding i-Pod market and all the changing features at the time. The few I installed seemed to function OK though. Non i-Pod mp3 seemed to work OK, Too. The install package was the same for the S-Type as the XJ, so tell the guy you have an S-Type.
Here is all the install information, you seem like one who could tackle the installation if you had a mind to. You be the judge.
That ought to keep you busy!
Good luck!

No, not really. It sort of comes down to the fact there are so many audio devices, so little in the way of standardization, and so many various functions. They made an attempt to really nicely interface with the first i-Pod and transfer the Leaper to the i-Pod screen etc. The trouble is, they [the devices] change and evolve so fast that while it's a neat idea, the practicality just isn't there. When the moneyed crowd get the latest and greatest, they "out technology" the car, and they get pissed.
In practice, I've seen the i-Pod screen lock up once in a while, needing a reconnect, and some delays switching from one album to another, minor stuff. On the whole people who have them seem to take it all in stride. Some generic mp3 players seem to play across the USB pretty well.
At any rate, I question the wisdom of removing it for the XJ entirely, but you know how the manufacturers do when they have to consider JD Power. JD Power, absolutely the worst thing that ever hit the car business.
Cheers,

C2C40513 - works in a 2003 XRK??
Well i just purchsed a 2003 XKR and joined this forum....love the car and love the forum...tons of great posts I have been reading thru like this one!
I want to get an IPOD setup in my 2003 XKR.
I call the dealer parts department and they stated that the C2C40513 is the part I need but when I read the instructions it doesnt specift an XKR or a 2003. Perhaps I have the wrong instructions or the wrong kit?
Can someone verify??
Mike

You will probably have to try and find something aftermarket for your car.

Everything I read says this is a NO GO? Can you help with the install?
would this install work - http://www.discountcarstereo.com/pdf/alpai-aux.pdf
Purchase only if the Alpine Model number begins with "CDA-", "TDA-", "DVA-", "IVA-", "3DA".*Not* compatible with any Factory (OEM) Radio.
1. The ALP/AI-AUX is NOT COMPATIBLE (will not work/fit) Alpine M-BUS Radios (CDM-, TDM, etc)
2. If your vehicle (Chrysler, BMW, Honda, Mercedes, Jaguar, Volvo etc) has an Alpine OEM (factory) CD Changer, this part is *NOT* compatible. It is compatible with Alpine aftermarket products but not in OEM applications.

Unless your dealer was talking about changing out a bunch of other equipment, he was mistaken, and probably confusing it with an X-type or an XJ.
