Default First visit to this forum

Evening all
first visit to this thread - had an XF for a few years from 2008-10, one of the first imported into Oz with a 2007 manufacture date, then traded it in on a 135I, as wanted a bit better performance. Needless to say Missus was not happy losing the exclusivity of the limo for the pocket rocket, so came back to Jag with a new XKR convertible a month back, and smiling ever since. First trip down the mountain with the top down got a "now I get it!" and more smiles all round since. Wow, what a car with the top down.

Hey eveyone, nice to see theres some kiwis here too. Where are all the Hamiltonians?!?! I cant be the only one on here who lives in Hamilton. I have seen Jaguars on the road occasionally.

I have a 89 Daimler XJ40 with the 3.6 litre. I drove half way across the country to buy it and it hadn't really been driven further than 'round the corner' in over 10 years. i drove it the 300+km trip home and it ran like new, not bad for 108,000miles it has on the clock. I half expected the electric dash to play up and it did but for the time being i will just enjoy it. After all its to hard to be mad at a car this nice.

Welcome Daimler! I'm from Auckland which is almost a northern suburb of Hamilton nowadays.

Nice car you have there! I am sure you will find a lot of useful info and new contacts here.

Hi Stewart,

its only a hop, skip and a jump over the bombay's to auckland these days.

Thanks! I have noticed already that the Daimler has already drawn alot of attention, even around town. More so than my other Jaguars ever did.

Lets hope our kiwi sprit can be shared and we can come togeather and help our fellow Jaguar/Daimler owners.

Default newby from Oz

Les from Brisbane, Australia.

We have an S type 2003 3Litre. Our first Jag was an XJ40 Sovereign and after this car we could not be without a Jag - great cars, so comfortable and we have been lucky with reliability.

Goal of buying an XK8 now - owning one is on our bucket list!

thanks for the great forum which is very helpful.

Dave from Sydney. I've got a S1 XJ6 SWB. These forums are the best place I've found on the net for information and like minded Jaguar folk. Be good to get some more activity happening in here.

Just a heads up, The Jaguar club national concours & display day is on in Wollongong this Easter Saturday 30th March. I'll be heading on down there.

Hi Dave

Welcome!

I'm in Sydney which isn't too far away from Wollongong but my jag is still very much an old work-in-progress (1989 XJ6 Sovereign) might be slightly embarrassing to cart it out there before i've finished fixing some parts up.

Are there any other meets throughout the year?

Good stuff! Despite my efforts, I had a limited response in getting any of the Australian Jaguar Clubs (sorry to the NZ guys, I didn't go quite that far) to reveal their planned meets. If there are any members of any of the state-based clubs, please let me know. It would be great to get a thread of those meets throughout Australia/NZ. In fact, let's do that right now!

Hi all, Our first Jag was an XJ40 sovereign 1988 a most beautiful car we bought second hand in 1995 and kept for 15yrs. Serviced it regularly and no probs at all. Upgraded to an S type, a few years ago and also a lovely car. Now have an XK8 in our stable. It was on our 'bucket list' and drives beautifully, really purrs along. No room for anyone older than 2yrs in back seat though! The rain sensor in the windscreen is brilliant! It changes wiper frequency with intensity of the rain.
By the way, the compliance plate is in the boot, near the battery.

Thumbs up

Hi Dave,

Adrian from Perth here. This may be a bit late but I haven't visited the Forum a lot and did not realise we had an Aussie Coordinator. Great you decided to take on the role and hope all is going well.

Currently I am driving a 2007, X150 Convertible, 4.2 V8 painted Indigo Blue. Fantastic vehicle. Previous Jaguars owned; 1950 XK120 Converted and 1974 E-Type V12 Convertible. Both were brilliant vehicles.

I notice a lot of response from our cousins in NZ.

I have just joined and live in Sydney. About to commence on the restoration of my old 1966 3.8"S" that I have owned for 34 years and not driven for the last 20 years. Hope there are some other original S Type owners in Sydney.

Cheers,

Baz
