Hi All
I have just purchased a Jaguar 420 sedan auto and am waiting to have vehicle blue slipped on Monday 16 June. Hope to be driving it after the registration hoop jumping on Monday and do a short country run to confirm all is well with motor, drive-train and suspension.
Thanks to Ken and all the others who have posted support.
If all is well I might do a sweet run through McKains Falls rd. Not quite the 40 bends of old but a good cruise to test out the cooling braking etc.. of the 420.
Cheers Chris
P.S. sweet run to me means always driving on your side of the road and within the marked speed limit.

Welcome to Jaguar Forums
Hi Chris;
Great to see you jump across from your New Member post where we first said "hello" ... now we can shout you an even louder and warmer welcome to your fellow Australian members and especially your local NSW&ACT region.
As a former Mountain Man myself (many years at Lithgow; wife Chris a Katoomba girl), I know you are surrounded by a long heritage of Jags in the Blue Mountains and beyond ... the Lithgow Speed Shop in the 60s and 70s was a haven for us rev-heads and the owner was an ex-ARDC racing driver and Jag fanatic.
Oh, another piece of trivia ... not all of the Forty Bends Hillclimb track lies under the new Highway below Hassans Walls, although I believe part has reverted to private property. I was there (freezing) on the day Brabham on his Cooper blasted a new course record ... but not there some years later when Bib Stilwell took the beautiful Repco-Brabham up in a time that made the Cooper look slow.
Best wishes with the big, beautiful 420 ... that's a LOT of Jaguar to love. There are plenty of resources here on the forum, but do keep us posted here locally on your progress through reg and post some pics when available. We are a friendly bunch ... and some of us are even house-trained not to drool on your duco!
So, dive in, enjoy ... and shout if you need help
Cheers Chris, and welcome aboard,
Ken

Well she breezed through the blue slip, a few too many dollars for a green slip and 20 minutes at the motor registry counter and a few more dollars and I had the plates in my hand. Fitted them up at the registry as I had some 3/16th setscrews and nuts waiting in the glovebox just for this task and off I drove into the midday sun.
The TLC provided by the previous owner was evident in the smooth way she ran and handled and in no time I had reached Orange. The manually switched electric fans kept the temperature in good check and oil was at a bit over 30 but I did notice it drop below 20 at idle.
Just having a celebratory glass of Logan Shiraz as I'll return home tomorrow. Driving my work 4 x 2 Toyota hilux is going to feel like I've stepped into a K Mart pedal car ..lol

Congratulations.
Doesn't just feel good when things go right. Not sure the oil pressure at idle would worry me too much..sender unit even?
The dollars for 'on roads' are just something that has to be spent. There would have been some wonderful photo opportunities a long the way,did you take a camera?
Enjoy,Neil
