Hi Jim,
Thanks for the advice. I bought from Battery World at Ryde $419 fitted for a Varta Battery replacing the original 7 year old unit. Interesting the battery was is a good state but I decided to replace anyway as the Touch Screen was increasingly playing up and when it did work it was slow to show the home screen. The new battery has fixed the problem perfectly.
Expensive yes, but it isn't the easiest battery ever to replace
Cheers
Mike

I did buy the noco genius G7200 from these guys http://www.ironbarkaustralia.com.au/noco-genius.html I bought extra connectors which I leave on the battery in the car just used it on Saturday night my XJ8 was in storage for 4 months and I wanted to take it to the all British day up here so just plugged it in and let the charger do its thing
I have the smaller ones permanently plugged into my motorbikes to keep the battery's in top shape in storage

Hi fellas,
One further BIG advantage to purchasing genuine German manufacture Varta batteries from Battery World - as fitted to my final series S-Type . . .
In NSW at least, Battery World apparently hold the service contract for all Emergency Vehicles. I found that the H3 Silver Series Varta (not the standard Black) is fitted 2-up in all our Ambulances - one for vehicle power and second for patient cabin equipment.
Turnover is therefore rapid, and the replacement I sourced in Coffs Harbour was manufactured back in Germany just 7 weeks prior. Compare this to the 9 months gap between the original 2006 manufacture of the OEM Varta in my 2007 Jag by the time it was sold new in Australia.
The Silver series comes at an even more expensive tag price - around $475 if I recall. However, JaguarForums members should also be advised that, at least in NSW, Battery World will pay you $20 for your old battery - and will honour a special members' discount of a further $35 -$50 depending on corporate or franchised shop. Nett result will be around $400-$420.
+1 for Doc's advice re dedicated charger. My choice is the 3, 5 or 7Amp PowerTech Smart Charger as sold by Jaycar, that can be connected permanently - and which then switches up and down, on and off, to keep your new battery in top shape forever.
Hope this helps others,
Cheers
