Doug any preferences for a meeting place during the day and eats at night?

(Ken and I are keen to meet up at the Tenterfield Train Musuem as per previous post)

Would any Queenslanders like to meet up and convoy along the way or would you all prefer to meet at the destination?

I have to pick up my father at Burpengary as my first stop that morning. No times decided as yet.

Booked a room at the Commercial Boutique for 18th....all set to go.

 

It would be great to all travel down together. I thought that was what was planned :-)
We're happy to tag along to any points of interest along the way. I think it's about a four hour drive so we have plenty time for stopovers. Has anything been arranged for a combined dinner on Saturday evening/night. And perhaps a combined outing/tour on Sunday morning with all our NSW buddies before departing on our separate ways home again.

Yeah Doug we'll convoy I reckon. I have to pick up my father at Burpengary first. There is a few different routes to get out near that way, so I'll start plotting and find the best place to meet along the way unless you can think of a good place after Burpengary?

I am open to suggestions as I don't really know Tenterfield at all ha ha ha.

Hi guys

For those still needing accommodation Stannum House are still offering cheap rates. Clarke told me when he stayed there a few years ago it was a few hundred dollars dearer so perhaps it is the off season then? Bit of a bargain.



Nothing in concrete yet but please see below for some options and ideas and fill free to chip in with some ideas.

I think 2pm sounds like a good time to meet. Doesn't matter if you are late or early as we are all arriving from different places. The Commercial Boutique (http://thecommercialboutiquehotel.com) looks like a good place to meet, sit and have a beer or look around the main street and watch the Jags roll up. There is also the Henry Parkes Museum just across the road.Museum - Sir Henry Parkes Tenterfield School of Arts

Dinner that night we have alot of options. The Commercial Boutique has nice food apparently. Stannum House where Doug and I are staying also has a restaurant. I have just messaged them to find out what it is like and if it is licensed or not.

I think they only serve breakfast at Stannum House, the restaurant was closed up last time we were there about 12 months ago. The chef left to open a restaurant in the main street and the owners decided not to carry on with it, but that may have changed since.

 

Cheers Clarke. Yeah they still advertise a Dinner Menu but I sent them a message via their facebook page to see what they come back with....

 

Guys if we are rolling in around 2pm we will obviously have to check in and do all that sort of thing first (I didn't equate that whoops)

We could either meet around 3pm-ish or just ditch that idea and meet for dinner (Perhaps at the Commerical?)

Then on the Sunday morning all drive our Jags up to the Historical Railway Museum, get some great snaps and check out the Museum.

Perhaps finish up by meeting up somewhere for lunch before the drive home?

Paul, all sounds good....just a couple of things from us in Sydney.
Not 100% sure on arrival time as we have at least a 7hour drive (I think), will certainly aim for 2ish.
At this stage the jag is running fine, but if I have any concerns I will not risk driving her for some 15hours as I'm no mechanic and she is 43 years old. However I would still like to come even if it's in the Range Rover...I hope that would be ok with you?

 

By all means Jim. It would be great to put a face to the name even if your kitty cant make it. No stress on times. Doug and I were thinking to ditch the afternoon meet up and have our first meet for Dinner. That will also give you more time to arrive.

Sunday morning would give us heaps of photo ops at the Train museum too so plenty of time.

Then a convoy back to Brissie after lunch. Wouldn't mind tagging along with a couple of good looking XJS's & an XJR.
