Looking at our parking skills do we need the high vis vest and tape measure (like some) to park? I think we did ok, no one was run over and we didn't cross the line.

Except Paulyling & 34by151 who parked in front of the line before we arrived.

Top effort Jim(Daf11e), Nina and Ken(cat_as_trophy). Big job for the three of you to come interstate for a glass of red and some sunshine .

Even "Paulyling"(our RC) managed to get into the shot.

yep, I'm being the post hog today(what's new). ABD just posted on facebook what a day they had.

Being on the committee the last couple of years and seeing what they don't do when they should(or listen to young members...50 ish).....and after today's mess I think a mutiny is in order. I think that Myself, Paulyling & DR phill should overthrow the establishment!!!!!!!Do we have your backing for a coup......just joking(I would need all the other car clubs on board for that), but that could happen, time for new blood.

Just emailing the other clubs, lol.............

Edit:Oops, just me venting. But I am in the process of compiling a list of contacts . I'm pretty sure Paul and Phill have got my back.

Thanks for this report, Clarke, and Especially for the V8 MG!! Beeeeautiful machine!! Must have a power/weight ratio of about 100! LOL

Your problems with your club are Just like ours! OLDE guys and wives (late 70s), who have known each other for Decades; only One of which realizes that WE (husband and I) are the only new members to join in recent history and that existing members are simply getting too old to carry on a viable club! Not only that, they're all getting so Grouchy!

I was seriously thinking of dropping my membership next year unless things improve, but husband wants to continue we I will.

Husband has experience presiding over a car club, but that was many years ago before my time, which club is now defunct, and we're so remote (club headquartered in Sacramento 200 miles away) it would be virtually impossible to ramrod from here. We can t even attend monthly meetings regularly.

We have Very poor attendance at club functions because there are so many 'silent members' (pay their dues but we never see them).

Oh well, life goes on.

To me, a great day out with club members IS fun! Usually entails great cars, great food, and great friendships!

Great photo's Clarke. You always post the best ones lol!

Yeah I think we need to do something collectively for next year's ABD. I still had a great day but yeah I know a few were disappointed being asked to pay more to keep the famous ABD badge, and then not collect. Also I noticed too there were less Jaguars from the JDCQ as well. Maybe that just went down to all the last minute stuff.

With a full year of planning we could even make it bigger and better. Apparently one year they even had an old swing band play there.
(I was even trying to see if two of my kids could even do some busking there at the event next year!)
Mate I reckon you'd probably put your name up for ABD Organizer and they'd probably jump at the opportunity!

Have to agree with the call for the MG being one of the best there. A credit to the builder. Everything in its place. The old Rolls was a beauty too. Great day out looking at cars I could only ever dream of owning with a great bunch of Jag Forum people to swap stories with.

Mate with the power of the forum we could do some hunting around for ya. Depends what Jag your after and what you like.

Can pick up pretty good condition XJ40's real cheap at the moment from what I heard.

Also the XJS H.E are still pretty inexpensive at the moment. Some stinkers out there though mate!

Looks like a great day from the pics and comments. Odd we dont have a British themed day on the calendar down here. There are lots of big gatherings but nothing that I know of with that theme.

Sounds like the Jag Club up there enjoys a similar ambience to the one here. Never understood why it is so hard to be inclusive. Part of the reason I like my local club, nobody gives a rats about marque, vintage or sexual orientation.

The organisers were taking a lot for granted with that last minute request. I love that "my lack of planning, is now your urgency" approach. I used to get it a fair bit in my working life until I learned to say no. Took me a long time to realise I was just making it harder for myself by "helping" with manufactured emergencies :-)

Default All British themed day in Victoria

But you do or at least do the research thing
November 7 British Classics Day at the Races - An ABCCC Event. Contact: Colin Brown (03) 5964 9291
Venue: Yarra Glen Racecourse, Armstrong Grove, Yarra Glen, Victoria Melway Map 275; Ref:

Possibly get on the phone and ring ABCCC Vic and have a talk there are a number of british theme days the All British Classics Car Club Victoria seem to run. Sometimes members need a good kick in the rump to get going, miss 3 consecutive meetings / club runs got you a please explain get moving or get out !!!! but that was one hell of a club. B1)

Thought they must exist but I had never seen them promoted or on the AOMC calendar. Never done the research as car Britishness for its own sake is not something that would interest me.

Was just interested in the different event visibility between States, maybe be just me not being in that circle :-) Looking at the ABCC calendar they seem to be more run oriented and support stuff like Motor Classica.
