It seems that the Gods are testing us all out. Our XJS has a boot-full of 98 Octane vapour resulting in fuel tank removal for investigation and repair of rusted holes. This on top of rear brake caliper failure demanding repairs. A busy couple weeks ahead. Would rather be just polishing the Mark 2. :-)

Family consoles me with advice that alternative may be more peaceful . . . but not very appealing!

Reminds me of Christine's Granny who often lamented "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get!"

From Pauly's listings, we appear a good turnout . . . and I am so keen to do the RiverCat cruise. I hear that Clarke has a special premium reserve Shiraz set for tasting at our Saturday evening dinner - Woollies Wobbly Woebegones 2018 vintage - snatched up for a song from a dumpster behind his local BWS. Comes with label warning not to spill near car duco, but heck, at Clarke's crazy prices it's gotta be a bargain . . . just swallow quickly! Still room for more to join in at what should be a memorable day and night!

As to the ABD itself, my polishing kit is already smoldering close to spontaneous combustion. Here are some pics from last year's NSW All British Day at King's School, Sydney . . . focus on a couple of really rare classic Jaguars just to whet the appetite.

Cheers to all,

Ken
Lucky you have a decent car to travel in and that you enjoy the driving.
No need to worry about Clarke's bargain Shiraz - I've lashed out on some good Merlot at $6 bottle. Great photos of the Sydney ABD. Probably best we will get here is a replica D Type or two. we'll see.
Cheers...

Hi Clarke . . . is that just 2 years from new? Not an over-tensioning issue?

I once saw far worse on one of the first 253 V8 Holdens we bought as a very low mileage dealer demonstrator. Six months later we were replacing the water pump . . . and I swear that someone must have used a team of elephants to tension up the fan belt. Honestly, the belt tension was so tight you could have played a good violin concerto on it!

What does your resident doctor Phil advise? Very interested to hear the outcome coz 2 years sounds very poor.

Crikey Doug. Well documented XJ-S issue I know, but "fire in the hole" is a specialty of someone else up your way . . . so I won't venture there! That is one of many challenges I have not got to on our XJ-S. No floors mean a ready escape path for any fumes or leaking fuel . . . although feet will need some support before car is ready to re-enter the world of roads! Have new floors ready to go in but appalled at the amount of work to strip and prep to begin work . . . and that's just me . . . the XJ-S will take even longer!

Cheers mate,

Ken

G'day Guys

Getting closer and closer to the big event. Here is the latest from the Chief Organizer:

Please ensure that all of your club members attending All British Day Brisbane are made aware of the following:

1. Rules for ABD-B that can be viewed at The Rules | All British Day ? Brisbane ? Queensland ? Australia

2. In accordance with the conditions of entry set by St Josephs College that No Dogs are allowed on the site.

3. The operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (Drones) at ABD-B is prohibited.

Please advise number of members attending.

Regards

Yep, that is 3 years old. Just checked the date on the receipt. I don't think it was a tension issue. Dr Phill fitted it to the new engine, then Murray Scoble refitted it when I had the small warranty issue well over 12 months ago and Dr Phill had the belts off again when the new air con compressor was fitted not long ago.
Even Jagdaim think it is strange but it came with a 12 month warranty.

Yes Paul, Lois and I will be bringing the Mark 2 (polished or not) and hopefully the XJS. Jim and Nina will probably be traveling with us or in our XJ40. Not finalized yet. I think they fly out mid afternoon back to Sydneytown so we'll need to get them to the airport on time.
Cheers, Doug.

2) Clarke (o1xjr) - car
3) Phill (Dr Phill)
4) James (34by151) - car
5) Pete (digger200012) - Maybe
6) Doug & Lois (ozxj) - car
7) Rob (Champir) - car
8) Ropariva (Alan)
9) Ken (cat_as_trophy)
10) Charlie (charlie.p)
11) Mike (Mike Rossiter)
12) Beck (BeckBeck)
13) Jim & Nina (Daf11e) - car
14) Joe and Kris(jryall)

Joe, Mike, Beck, Charlie and Pete you are bringing a vehicle each?

Ken, did you mention your are bringing the XKR?

Ok cheers people's!

Fortunately I have caught it early and not too much damage to repair. Three small holes and a bit of minor pitting. Considering braze patching or lead wiping the whole area. Haven't decided the best/easiest option just yet. Your floor replacement will keep you busy for quite some time once the 'strip and prep work' is accomplished. Still trying to unsee that vision....
Cheers, Doug.

No worries Beck. If you find you can come on the day, feel free to rock up. They'll be plenty of spots I am sure.

This is just to give the ABD organiser an approximate number of vehicles

Cheers

It arrived! 5 days late.
It is in, just the thermostat housing and coolant to add tomorrow then good to go for ABD.

Edit: On the road again.

Second edit: I have two 3 x 3 metre gazebo's and 1 table. Maybe a second table if anyone has one that packs down small (James?)

Great work Clarke!

James and I did the water pump on the Blue Goose last year. It was a royal PIA so I don't envy you. Did it all go well?

I just gave my old girl an oil and filter change yesterday

I decided to to do it the quick way and leave the electric fans in place, would have been faster to bite the bullet and remove them first.

Dr Phill says the water pump is good to go.
We may be pushing our 50's, but we are still 21 at heart.
