Default Qld drive in May

Just for those that may like a nice drive out towards Toogoolawah,
Go to the Watts Bridge Airpark Site for dates and directions
I will be there but not in the Jag, 2 event dates, one being for Yak and radial aircraft, second being a general fly in which hopefully some of the car clubs may turn up if the invites have gone out. Normally a large event late August for their Gathering of Eagles weekend.
here is a link Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield - Calendar of Events

Default Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield, 30th May

Qld drive in May-capture.jpg

This sounds like an interesting day. We have three starters interested so far, possibly four.

I thought it best to keep this thread separate from the "second meet 2015" thread. There are a few good ideas in there and can make it a June/July event.

Starters so far.
1.gardcycl (Peter) flying in.
2.paulyling (Paul)
3.o1xjr (Clarke) pending work.
4.34by151 (James) possible

You Sunshine Coast guys could come down through Esk-Kilcoy Rd past Somerset Dam to the Airfield, Brisbane guys could take the Mt Glorious Rd(last time I was up there we had a fire) over to Wivenhoe-Somerset Rd and meet up at the T junction on Esk -kilcoy Rd, or we could take the Brisbane Valley Hwy and meet at the Airfield.

Any more keen to come along, jump in and sign up.

Clarke, count me in as well. I'll take the northern route and meet up with Pauly (and maybe James) at Woodford along the way.

Awesome. Sounds like this is taking shape

As discussed with Bruce (Henry Crun) I'm gonna double back and meet him at 8am outside the Woodford Pub.

Any other northsiders would like to meet us there feel free.

Here's hoping we can have a few more numbers between then and now.

James (34by151), I can meet you in Peachester at the corner of Commisioners Flat Rd/Kilcoy Beerwah Rd if you like or just at the Woodford pub at 8am.

Should be some fine Grand Touring

Clarke, do you mind if I put out the invite for QLD members in Aussie Jaguars (Facebook)?. I know one bloke there was disappointed he couldnt make all Euro day.

Ok so about 4 weeks to go for this event. I can't bloody wait

Well, that's nearly everybody from Lakeside Raceway coming along. Just a few more would make a good turnout.

Paul, ask anyone you like. More the merrier ,as they say.

I'm just the messenger, you guys make these things happen. Will send out a group email on the weekend to all Qld members on the Roll Call.

UPDATE:

Sent out the invite on Aussie Jaguars Facebook page and found out through another chap (Graeme) the JDCQ is also coming

Those guys are meeting here:

I'm on the Gold Coast but meeting the Brisbane guys 6.00am for a 6.15 start at Bunnings Oxley carpark, then on to Esk for breakfast, then to Watts Bridge. All welcome to join in if you wish
Well, the more the merrier. Should be cool

Sounds like a few clubs are coming. There will be a good turn out of Jaguars!

the facebook page is here:

Hi doc, haven't seen you around the forums much lately.
If you are going to come along we could meet somewhere in Brisbane west(I'm just off the toll road), and head out to the meet.

UPDATE for me:

Found out today my daughter has got her dance performance at the Maleny Show starting at 1pm on same day I thought my cruising for the day was over. After doing some thinking I came up with a compromise.

Its 1hr 20mins from Watts Bridge to the Maleny Showgrounds so I figure Ill have to leave just after 1110am and that will get me at my next destination with a bit of time to spare (incase I need petrol etc). Will be cutting it fine but I think it will work.

Bit bummed out as I would of liked to have stayed longer but can't miss the daughters special event. So ill be at Watts bridge for about 2 hours from 9am ish.

All welcome to continue cruise (if 2 hours is enough) to Maleny showgrounds with me. Its the Maleny Show she is performing at.

Just glad I could still come on the cruise as I'm really looking forward to this

Some things you just can't miss Paul, but good if you can fit in couple of hours at Watts Bridge.
Sounds like the recent red eye flight I took to get to Lakeside

Yes your efforts on the Euro day inspired me to fit in both commitments as well lol!

At least I will be fitting in some fine country cruising!

I won't be able to attend, that weekend is one of only two Saturdays I have off work during my sons soccer season and we have to go to the Gold Coast for an 11am game.
I will give the forum banner to Paul or James to display with the cars.

No worries Clarke. Sorry you couldn't make it bud but family first.

One question now is, who will be the official photographer?

I have a point and shoot but a high end one. Takes pretty good picks. No SLR though.

Nevertheless their will still be photos

Default Arrival times of aircraft

Just a Tip Guys, most aircraft arrive in by say9.00 to 11.00 and many can depart by 1 pm depending on the day. So if running a little late you may miss a few interesting visitors to the airfield
