Help with "restricted performance" - RESOLVED
Hi all, I too am from SA and have just bought my first Jag. Its a 2003 S-type 4.2L SE in great condition but the only problem is the error light occasionally comes on and it says Restricted Performance. It still run smooth until I try to accelerate quickly where it "Kangaroo hops". When the light is off, it accelerates without problem. I have done some research on the codes and it seems to suggest a vacuum leak so I will need to take it to a mechanic. Does anyone have any tips or know a good mechanic who deals with Jaguars down around Port Noarlunga? Cheers... Dave.

Welcome David.
I will add you to teh SA roll call when I remember how to do it.
I dont know anyone down your way. On the occasions I get real stuck, the people in Kent Town are my go to.
Put your issues in teh S Type section, with teh actual code, not teh wording, and the clever crows will have a list of answers for you.
My "guess" as mine are both V6 earlier versions, is the fuel filter was changed when??. It is now 14 years old, and they do break down internally.

David,
You could try Triumph Rover Spares at Lonsdale, give them a call on 8384 6933, web site here: Triumph Rover Spares - The World's Largest Land Rover Dismantler
They specialise in spares parts for Triumph, Rover and especially Land Rover, and they also do Jaguar spare parts, in fact they were the only place I could find a couple of years ago that had the spare parts I needed for my old XFR. Not only did they have the right parts, they fitted them for me. Their prices were good and their service was very good, and they have in-house mechanics who I have no doubt will be happy to work on your S-Type.
