Default introduction

I've just done an introduction in the main forum, but I'll do another one here to keep the boss happy haha.
my name is kyle, I'm from paynesville in east gippsland, victoria. neil and I could almost throw rocks at each others houses hahaha.
My father has owned his 1985 series 3 xj6 for the last 4 years. the plan was that when he passed, I would inherit it. at 75 years of age, and about 10 bouts with cancer I ended up buying it because he'll live to a bloody hundred to spite me.
so I am now the proud owner of his beloved series 3.

google search has often lead me to this forum and after a swift nudge from neil, I have signed up.

cheers

Welcome Kyle, hopefully you will find enough support here to keep the old girl on the road. I have a similar car , just a year older and also recently acquired. Im just starting to learn some of the unique ways Jaguar approached things in those days.

thanks steve! I'm pretty intrigued by the 350 conversion! down the track I wouldn't mind dropping an injected 5L into the old girl. but I've seen some terrible conversions haha

I hope you'll let him drive it - I bet he let you drive it when he owned it. The guy is obviously a determined fighter. He could inherit it when you croak.

I was only allowed to drive it if I washed it for him. so you can believe that car has been washed more than I have haha.
the way he's going, he'll live longer than I will haha

Yes the conversion doesnt seem to have a good reputation. Seems the desire to do it doesnt often align with mechanical ability or sufficient $s or the personality to do 100% of whats needed instead of 80%. An injected 5ltr would be nice (for the non purist) and plenty available in Oz.

haha yeah I've seen a few threads on butchered conversions. I've had a few ideas that will upset the purists, but coming from a minitruck scene, I'm not new to people pushing their ideas if the perfect vehicle onto me haha
