Default Run No 2 2017

June 20th or 21st

Meet at Yarck for coffee and the on to Gracebrook Winery for lunch.

Gracebrook is at the southern end of the King Valley, and the drive out beyond Mansfield is a nice one.

Timing would be civilised probably about 10AM at Yarck, leave at 11AM for the restaurant.

Once again we are taking one for the team and pre testing the venue on a local car club run in May. If it does not meet our demanding standards (like not having wine, or tables and chairs) we may change. However I have only heard good things about the place.

Sofie/Mike, you have the most issues with weekends, you tell me which day can work.

Linda/Ken, yeah we know, you are poncing around the UK for endless summer months /envy and cant make this one

This is a bit of a day trip doddle for Melbourne people, so try and be there!

So, today I took one for the team and went up to Gracebrook for a pre run run with my local car club. It is a great venue. Rustic style place, great food and wide selection of wine styles.

The road up to Mansfield is straight highway , but then to Whitfield is 60km of more interesting driving and great views.

Hopefully we can get a few more starters :-)

The venue looks fantastic, definitely worthy of our patronage
Sorry for the late reply. Definitely, count us in. Sofie and I will make arrangements for whatever day suits.
I'm a bit confused by the dates though, by my reckoning the 20th and 21st of June are Tue and Wed. As I don't work Wednesdays this would be ideal for me but feel this may be an error.

We've just about reached Wales.
We are trying to do a weekly blog post. Mainly as a record for ourselves and family but have a look.

Thanks Mike

It definitely was a brain fart, although maybe I might fall on my feet.

Tony , can you do Wednesday the 21st?

We can do weekdays, and if its easier for Mike why not? The venue is open weekdays.

Failing that , Sunday the 25th.

OK then we have lift off.

Wednesday June 21st it is then. Possible opportunity for anyone who normally works weekends , or prefers a run when the roads are quieter to come along. As usual everyone is welcome and it doesnt matter if you want to come in a non Jag if that needs saying :-)

Current start list:

MikeyB10 (2)
Jagent (2)
Yarpos (2)
George&Anne (2 from my local club, date to be confirmed)

Thinking we meet up at Yarck for coffee about 10:30 and then go on to Whitfield.

Meeting venue is Bucks Bakery and Coffee (yellow banners, on left coming into Yarck) which has easy parking off the highway in a service road.

Slight adjustment to meet up time.

Tony and June have had real life interfere with their plans, so they will be up at Yarck from 10AM for breakfast and have a chat, but cant go on to Mansfield so they can be back in Melb that afternoon.

See you all Wednesday

Below are some pics from today's run. Was good to catch up with Tony and June in the morning, its been a while since we last saw them.

Winter solstice in Australia :-)

The destination. Rustic enough you think?

Lots of fat bunnies around the winery (apart from the patrons I mean), but none on the menu.

Oh yes, cars. Only three starters this time. George had his LTD along. He has two Jags but one is unregistered at the moment waiting to tick over to club permit age, the other has a significant fuel leak best left at home. Great drive along the alpine roads and great food and wine when you get there, we will be back to this place for sure.

Great to catch up guys, albeit only for breakfast. We'll be there with bells on (and hopefully wheels still on) next time!

Great pics Michael & Steve. A Ford flanked by Jaguar bodyguards is a privileged Ford indeed!

Looking forward to Sorrento or Phillip Island in the Spring, we're past the shortest day so not long to go
