Default Advice on buying this 2006 XKR

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind the newbie question.

I have never owned a Jaguar, always wanted one, and am checking out a 2006 XK XKR. It is original owner, never accidented, 100,000 kilometers (I am in Montreal, canada).

I am wondering (mainly) two things: the fair market value (so I know how much I can negotiate) and whether I should be nervous about certain things mechanically, because of its age. I don't want things breaking down every other week.'

Anything that all you experienced people think I should know (in addition to my 2 questions) would be most welcome.

Thank you!

-Derek

Welcome to the forums Derek,

For the fair market value question, you are in the right place asking Canadian members. Values vary enormously around the World and it would only depress you to hear what an XK8/XKR costs in the UK.

For mechanical advice, XK8/XKR forum is the place to look:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/

The "stickies" (FAQ's) at the top of the threads will give you a lot of useful information on weaknesses and there are already several threads asking for advice on assessing a potential purchase. Start another there if you wish. Members are always ready to help with their knowledge and experience.

Welcome to the forum... I typically get a pulse from Autotrader. Btw, there are significant differences between the 06 and 07. But to answer your question, the cars are quite dependable, though delicate at this age.

I'm presently searching for a decent X100 XKR and came across a 2003 posted in Montreal. I'm in Vancouver so wondering if anyone there could recommend an independent Jag mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection [if I take it further]. This car is on the West Island.
Thanks,
Chris
