Thanks... Do you still have your XFR? Just have to keep a close eye on the forum as the warmer weather approaches...

I already got the snow tires on (went on Friday Dec 28). I am actually amazed as to how well she drives for a rear wheel with no additional wait in the trunk... and nothing but winter mode and she just goes...

Default Welcome H.Jones

I agree. Having a Jag sit in storage for half the year is a crime. After getting my cat, I ordered a set of Blizzaks on new wheels from Tire Rack for winter driving and they have been excellent. I try to stay off the roads after a snow fall though, but that's only to avoid the gravel/sand they spread on the roads for traction. Windshields are expensive for these cats.

As for get to gethers and such, I have heard from British Auto that they were sponsoring a British auto club in Calgary. Go to "britishauto.ca" and I am sure they will point you in the right direction.

Best of the Season!

My XF Supercharged wasn't too bad in the snow but not as good as the X-Type I had previously. I use my XKR between snowfalls and I find you have to be careful applying the power but it's still fun. I'm not sure if you're aware of the Vintage & Classic Sports Car Club of Calgary (Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary). It's mainly for classics but there are some current vehicles there too & lots of Jags.

I just joined and I'm in Calgary too. I've got 4 Jags, ranging from 1966 S Type to a 2007 X Type. I'm also in the Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary, we meet the second Wednesday of the month at the Austrian Canadian Club. There are a number of Jaguar owners there, from vintage to modern. Lots of other British cars too.

For servicing I've had excellent success at XJ Auto Service. He's a Jaguar Master Technician, who spent 15 (?) years at the dealer and then set up his own shop. He has lots of curtomers who will take their cars to him and pay for service, even when the car is under factory warentee because of the quality work he does. For the stuff I don't do myself, that's the only place my Jags go.

Jagboi, I'm afraid my attendance at the monthly meetings has been poor but hopefully I'll get along & get to meet you. I tried XJ Auto out a couple of months ago & was pleased with what he did.

How does one go about joining/attending the Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary? Isn't the Austrian Canadian Club in the vicinity of Barlow and 27th Ave?

Close, it's just south of 32 ave at 12st NE, overlooking Deerfoot. The next meeting is tomorrow (Wed) night, a bit of a pub quiz night, as January is traditionally a slow month. To join can visit the website, Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary or see me tomorrow night if you come ( I'm the membership coordinator).

I'm a new XJR (2004) owner and was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a key cut in Calgary. I bought a new uncut key off e bay but Calgary Jaguar claims they don't cut keys, they go next door to T&T which I am sceptical of.Thx.

Only checked a couple, not Perry yet. Went to the dealer today and they tell me they don't know of anyone in Calgary who can cut that key. They order keys precut from Jag Canada using the key number (which I have). So my next option is to find a locksmith ( or a dealer ) in Western Canada who can cut the key using the key number, if not I guess I'm at the mercy of the dealer. Their price is approx $400 I was told.

I had the same problem with an uncut key from e-Bay. Went to Head's Lock & Key Works at 3925 Manchester Road S.E. (403) 243-2032 & the problem was solved in 5 minutes. I had not been able to find anyone else in Calgary (including Parry Brothers) that could do it.

Is it the round style key with flats on it? If so, it's a Tibbe key, you can buy them precut off Ebay.co.uk quite easily. Just read the code, which will be a series of 1,2 or 3, and send that to the vendor. They are very common in Europe. I've done this with my XJS and received a key in the mail in a week for under 10 pounds.

A link to how to read the key: Code reading "Tibbe" keys for Jaguar

As a point of curosity, my X Type key has one less flat than the XJS

Default there is a mobile key cutter

I am currently on my way back to Calgary, I recently had my jag key cut by a gentleman who is a mobile locksmith for $150. Right now I do not have his card as it is in my office and will be back there by Thursday and will give you his contact info then.

Welcome JohnnJag. You have found your way to the right place for Jag advice, assistance and some entertainment to go along with it. My father, now 81, has a 2003 X-Type with about 30k km's on the odometer and I spent a few hours yesterday reviewing 2006 & 2007 posts on headlight issues and modification. I swear, my stomach muscles are sore today after laughing so much. There is plenty of good advice and man, are there some characters giving it. Enjoy!

I am in Calgary and joined the site in July after purchasing my 02 XJ8 Sport. Used the site for advice on how to replace a knock sensor after getting a Restricted Performance message on my dash display. Great site!
