I need some step by step help and advice on a belt removal. I have attached some pictures of a belt I found deteriorating and I want to replace it before snapping as its begun to tear on the outer edge.


Essential could you explain exactly what it is? where might I find one to purchase (Vancouver area)? and most importantly how do I remove it?

 

I'm going to guess that this belt drives the A/C compressor. Usually the compressor is held by at least two mounting bolts, one of which can be loosened to allow the compressor to be rotated inwards, giving some slack. Any cars parts store should be able to match the belt if you take the old one with you.
