Default can anyone recommend a good repair shop in Golden Horseshoe / Niagara to Toronto?

I am looking to get work completed on my 1993 XJ40, but I am finding that many Jaguar specialists have dropped out since "jagshops" was last updated (It must be five to 10 years out of date). It looks like "The Cats Cradle" has closed shop according to another post on here, Westminster Motors seems to have gone out of business, etc. Most other places on the list are not Jaguar specialists and probably couldn't be bothered, while others are just basic services (brakes, tires, exhaust). If anyone has any suggestions regading this query, I greatly appreciate reading them. Thanks, folks.

I had a promising chat with a guy at McDermot Motors yesterday. Guy seemed knowledgeable and down to earth. They were willing to work on my '09 XF and quoted about $1000 to do a fluid/filter/pan change for my transmission which seemed (un)reasonable. (The whole notion of a transmission that doesn't need a rebuild costing me $1000+ feels crazy to me - but this is my first-ever auto-box after owning about 25+ manual gearbox cars throughout my life) : )

If I proceed, I'll report back.

My attempts at getting parts pricing from Berkshire seem to echo other's experiences; First call, there was no one to discuss a parts request. I left my # with someone who said they'd have parts dept. call back but I didn't hear back for two days. I called again - spoke the someone who again said parts dept was not available, and described the situation there as "crazy busy" and the shop as "understaffed". I reminded him that none of that is my problem and left me number again. I DID hear back later that day and the pricing and availability were reasonable and I'll go get the part on Monday and report back how that goes.

Lastly - see my post about the latest on the "Jag Dr" - but also note that a text to him three days ago about parts availability (the discussion about which we had initiated while I was there) has gone answered. So not sure what's up there.

Hope that's helpful.

RK

Thanks so much for the experience report, RK! We must keep the good ones in business and the cars running properly!
