Dash / Console
I'm trying to decifer the language of my 1988 vanden plas' digital dash - don't know the technical name. I can reset everything and set the time what I want to know is specifically around the 'fuel - inst - avg' I bought the car without an owner's manual and while I've been able to find the shop manual for the car it doesn't tell me anything about what these mean only how to fix it if it goes south
- is the fuel reading the actual litres consumed while driving or is it based on km / litre.
- what does inst mean
- and I'm pretty sure avg is the average of whatever other function I pressed before avg.
HELP PLEASE

Hi Pamela,
The fuel inst avg is as you suspected: When the display is showing Avg this is your averaged fuel economy since you last reset the values. When Inst is displayed this is the instantaneous fuel economy meaning how many liters per 100kms you are currently using. When cruising on the highway this should be around 7-10 liters per hundred, when stopped at a light it will go to 99 liters per hundred as you are not moving.
Hope this helps
